I am ordering a lift for ome for my 88 fj62. It says it will be about 2 1/2 inches over stock. will 33 x 12.50 look out of place??

I want that size of tire, is this lift too much for'em

what kind of back spacing will I need??

it'll be perfect for 33z, I have the BDS 2.5" lift with 33s.

by the way, notatreehugger, I nearly switched my name to that a while back, I'm an Environmental Engineering major, so people call me a tree hugger. Yeah right, and that is why I drive a vehicle that gets such great gas mileage.

For a 62, get the heavy front springs, regardless of whether you have or ever plan to have a bullbar and/or a winch. You will thank me later.

Hey big red...notatreehugger comes from back in college as a forestry major....which led into my current job as a wildland firefighter for the forest service.

bret, i would include pics, but i don't want my cruiser seen sagging and listing to port.

Hey, about how long would ome start to sag, say, if you had an arb w/ a winch and rear tire carrier from IPOR? Using Ome heavy duty?

why not a spring over with stock shackles ans springs, it will be cheaper than a lift i can tell you the parts to get and prices, its worth it i think. going with all stock you wont have to turn your axles.

IMHO this is way too much lift for 33x12.5 tires which is what the original poster was wanting to run...

Funny, I am taking a break from re-installing my OME 3" medium lift kit. I bought it through "Rocky Road". I'll attach a link at the bottom. 32 11 50 15's should look pretty good underneath your rig. I have heard 33s also fit very well. If you are planning to install it yourself, keep the following in mind: The rear leafs are side specific. If you dont put the one with the part number containing an "A" on the driver's side, you will find yourself doing it over again....like me. (us.) Any way. I am really happy with the lift so far. It is one heck of an improvement. Happy wrenching. For those reading this thread inquiring where to buy the kit, here's a link. Enjoy. www.rocky-road.com/60series.html

It would take a while with the HD kit, the mediums would probably last two years.

what are you saying?

You should have heavy springs on your 62 if you have a bull bar?

I'm buying one (bull bar) and have stock springs.

Will I be ok with that?

I'm saying that he probably would not be happy with light or medium front springs on a 62 because of the additional weight of the 62's automatic tranny and EFI. A 62 weighs about 234 pounds more than a 60. Most of that extra weight is located toward the front of the truck.

I don't know whether you drive a 60 or a 62, but I don't think an ARB bullbar would require different springs.

I think CSA might be correct. Why not add the heavy duty springs for 100 bucks more. I going to use like an insurance policy. Right now I don't plan on mounting a bull bar or winch......but never say never.

As for the spring over, I'm just getting into the Land Cruiser world so I do have all of the specifics, but with spring overs that I've seen there is modifications that need to be done to mount the axles to the springs, and since my 62 is sagging and needs springs anyway. I'm used to american vehicles, most vehicles lifted over 3inches need new drive shafts and a few other things. The ome lift comes with most of the stuff needed. With 33's it isn't neccessary that I change my gears. I just think the OME would fit my needs and bank account a little better

You can purchase ARB add-a-leaves for the OME suspension. They fit in just like they were designed to fit (which they were!). In other words, if you decide down the road that you need heavier spring packs on either the front or rear, you can just order/install the AAL's.
