FJ62 lift with 34x10.50 TSL Swampers

Cruiserdone on 34x10.50s.webp

I think this is pretty sweet. It is not mine, just a pic. I found here on IH8MUD somewhere.

Probably an off the shelf lift kit. Probably no more lift than 3.5" I would say; since I have not seen any companies that make a kit with more than 3.5' of lift for the FJ60.

I Have down that these are are 34x10.50 TSL Swampers.

I would go with the heavier springs, especially if you plan to add a bumper and winch or hauling stuff.

I had a friend re-arch my springs and add another leaf between the 2nd and 3rd stock springs in the rear. It made the ride a little stiffer but I liked it, it was tighter in the corners. I loaded my FJ60 full-up pulling a pickup bed trailer full-up and drove from Idaho to Alaska! NO sag after the trip!! (Note that this was done by a professional spring shop and not an off the shelf add-a-leaf!)

I bought another FJ 60 2 years ago with no sag. I could not believe it. One day I loaded the back with books and drove 15 miles and now I have sag. Stock springs suck.

Alcan can make whatever lift you want. Not a complete kit, but its not that hard to order the few other things you need. And they will make them to your specifics (bullbar/winch or extra weight in the rear, etc.)

That may be true "89's Rule" (and they do)

But although I have had my 89 fj62 for a year now I still am sorting through all I should do to make any viable mod.

I have a bull bar coming and I'm confused about whether I have enough springs happenin on my stock cruiser.. some say yes.. some say no..

I'm going to let it ride and it will tell me I guess.

I'd like a lift and/or some new springs but I have no clue what is the best way to go. Plus after 800 bucks for the arb bull bar I can't spend the $$ so fast now.

But I did just buy me a manly freakin horn!

Hella supertone horns.!!

Can't wait to let it fly when I get in back of one of those slow indecisive soccer moms.

My 62 from a few posts up.

The kit is HFS from coolcruisers.com out of Texas. It gives you about 3" and then I added some longer shackles from them as well. I love the kit so far and have had it about a year. The tires are swamper LTB's and 34x10.5's. They are bias ply and ride rough, loud, and a little squirrelly, but they are incredible off road. Have not had any issues rubbing with this set up. I did not get greasable shackle pins and this is one recommendation I would make. Hope it helps - Jim

I just installed the medium load OME Dakar springs last week on my 60. What a difference. The ride is very nice.
The only thing that I don't like is that the Dakar rear springs are designed to raise your back end higher than the front. Mine is about 2" higher. They call it the "Stinkbug" look. You can load a few elephants in the back and the springs will still handle the weight though.
I think I am going with longer shackles in the front to even it out.
My LT23575R15 tires look like bike tires now. I have 7.5" clearance in the front and 9.5" clearance in the rear. Like you, I think 33's may be to much and may go with 31's.
Hope this helps

33's are not too much, they are just right. 31's look good on a stock truck, not a lifted one. Why lift it if you are going to stay with the tires that will fit stock?

ditto, I have the OME/Dakar lift with 31s and it looks like $#!T as soon as I can afford it, and can fix my new electrical gremlin, I'm getting 33s----my .02

hey all, thanks for the good input. I like 33's and the best part is i don't have to change my gears. I would look at other kits, if i didn't need springs anyway.

What else besides longer rubber brake lines with i need?? Pitman Arm?? tie rods??

I ordered the medium load OME Dakar basic kit from MAF. That included springs, bushings, alignment bushings and shocks. I strongly recommend replacing the U bolts and and greasable shackles and pins( all of which I ordered afterwards). Oh yea, steering dampener too.
I didn't need to do anything with the brake lines or steering

I really like the 33's, just concerned about the clearance/steering.
Any issues with those?

No issues with 33's you can even fit 33's on a standard height 60 series. But have to be narrower 9.5 or 10.5 wide.
Steering wont be an issue.

You need nothing special for the 2.5" lift. Just order the OME kit from Kurt @ Cruiseroutfitters, if you are going 2.5 OME.

I dont understand the :I would look at other kits" part. There are several brands out there. I think the commonly used combo is OME or Alcan if you want to go fully custom. Read and search all you can in this forum, alot of this info has been covered tons of times.

Good luck!

Ok all....I called kurt @ cruiser outfitters today....ultimate heavy lift on the way...thanks for all the great input.....without it, i would have a spring over with hockey puck lift blocks...i'll get some pics up as soon as i get it jacked...

Thanks all!!

Sounds great! I have heard nothing but great things about him. I am working on getting up a few parts to order from him to save on shipping.

Do not forget to post up pics when you et everything in and on. We always love some new write-ups. Start spraying your bolts with wd-40 or PB Blaster soon :)

- The one thing I should have used that I think would have made my lift install go faster is a little plumbing propane or mapp gas torch. Using it to burn the bushings out. Removal is what sucks.
- Are you going to get new rims as well? They really are needed for 12.5" wide tires. Hit me up with a PM if you need some help after researching them. It can get a little agrivating w/ the backspacing issues.

Good luck again, look forward to seeing yet another truck build-up!!

Have you done the install yet? If so I would love to see pics with the 33x12.5. I know there are other pics in the forum but it is always good to see different trucks. I am getting the OME kit next week, have new rims and am getting tires soon. Can't wait for the new set-up.

33 work great with that amount lift as you can see from the left. Also agree with the propane use on the bushings. Melt them and they fall off. Try to pry them off and you be back here looking for answers

33's with about 3 inch lift and loaded with a weeks camping supplies (heavy)

Here's a pic of mine with 33's. I think 31's will be too small. 33's just look right. I've got 33x12.5x15's on the OME heavy duty lift.
