No, not the wing place, my horn sounds like a dying cat. Since i really dont know what a new horn sounds like, what have people done? Replaced with oem? is it loud enough? I can barely hear mine when the windows are down. I dont want a train horn or anything crazy, but loud enough so people can stop trying to merge into me. Who the hell cant see the big bus??

LOL....yeah I know what you mean. Some people just can't drive, other cars have bad blind spots, and so many of them have really bad visibility these days. I've never had to get one either but I'd try the junk yard or an auto parts store. ...or just google it . I'm sure lots of wild horns will pop up but there will be just a cheap decent horn lots of places. But most any horn from a junk yard should work. You should be able to get one that is loud enough for your needs. I think I'd look for one off of decent size vehicle....not a compact. A ford truck or a cadillac sounds a lot different than a Mazda Miata. :)))

Some of the small car horns will surprise you with deep tone and volume. Junkyard gets my vote. I got less than 2 years out of the horns I put in my 80 before the internals shook loose. They also liked to fill with water regardless of the direction the horn hole pointed...probably caused the busted guts. FAIMM Freeway Blaster was the model.

You don't like the "scooter horn on estrogen" sound? Come on :princess:, stop whining. <smile>
Its not that i dont like it, but dammit needs to be louder, kinda why i asked is a new oem sufficient. LISTEN TO THE WAILS OF A THOUSAND HAMSTERS

I bought a generic one for $10 once, it was deafening. Some have a screw for tone adjustment.
Have you tried cleaning the contacts? If they are not getting a full 12v, they lose their volume.

Yep. I bought oem's and when I rotated the the contacts position I had to fiddle with the screw/bolt to get full vibration.

I'm usually the guy on the "receiving" end of the horn. I seldom use my own. :)

Hella in mine, PO installed and works well for me. Is your troopy 12v or 24v?

Get an old AH-OOGA horn!
12 v... i just want it to be loud, ill look into those :) It still amazes me that i can be unseen. I have a dash cam on it, ill have to start a dashcam thread, you will laugh....

For example, locked up the tires on this one. Dont mind the music, its when i had the AM only radio in the bus and all i got was an oldies section. Also you tube kills some of the quality, its supposed to be 1080.....

Hello,

x2. I thought I was the only one.

Stick to OEM or an aftermarket of the same size.

You should clean the contacts and function test before trying anything else.

When removing the horns, loosen the bolts as gently as you can. The plate on that place is thinner (or maybe weaker) than the rest of the body, and captive nuts there break off very easily.

Try a Stebel Nautilus horn. Have had them on motorcycles and they are LOUD ... I believe they make a 24V version, but that will likely take some looking. Both Amazon and Twisted Throttle carry the 12V versions for ~$50 ...

Yes, that is the one. Stebel also makes one in 24V, though I have not personally seen one. I did see some available on AU eBay.
