Hello All.. Recently purchased a 1978 HJ45 in Costa Rica. Live in Canada but looking for property in Costa Rica. Spend a fair amount of time there and have always liked the older style Land Cruisers you see frequently. Was in Costa Rica last month and came across this truck and bought it. Hoping to keep it there but if plans change will bring it back. Guess the cart before the horse but more incentive to purchase property. Have been through this site and looking forward to continued reference and support. Looks like a great website and forum. See there are a few other diesel owners out there!

Welcome. Looks nice. I've seen boxes like that before, but it is not the same as the ones that are on the trucks in North America. Is the box OEM for South America or is it off of a newer model like a 70 series?

As usual, we all need more pics.

70 series tub nice looking ute

Yep, x2 on the J7 bin. Also 70 series indicators, semi-float rear axle and no free-wheeling hubs. Nice truck dude. Got more snaps?

Welcome mate
Not many 3.6 owners left as most people are swapping out to the 4.0 2H engine. There is still parts around for these old H engines in Australia if you have problems finding them in Costa Rica. They were a popular forktruck or forklift engine back in the 70's so there still plenty of parts for these in Japan.

Thanks all for the welcome. Have attached a few more pics of my HJ45. Was not aware box was not oem. Seems to be a nice fit and no rust. I think a lot of the central American 45s were farm trucks with their beds rusted out. Saw a 1980 45 with the same bed. Seems to be missing something at rear below tailgate. Is there a strip to house tail lights or bumper? Would like a simple tube type bumper if anyone has any suggestions or ideas.
