Hey y'all,

My names Dustin, I Just found your club by searchin the internet. Thought i'd drop a line since i'll be moving to Charleston, SC next Jan. I live in Ohio and am in a Jeep club up here, http://www.northeastcrawlers.com. I have a 2005 wrangler, with a 4" lift and 33x12.50 Firestone Destination M/T tires, and alot of other miscellaneous things. Are there alot of places to wheel down there?? Up here we have a couple of places that are pretty good and challenging, also over in Pennsylvania theres a place called Paragon Park thats actually in the process of losing their lease, so that place is pretty much done. Thanks

I'm I gonna be the only one to clue this young man in?

well I guess I can help. OK Rough Country I can imagine you understand the delayed response, since we are a cruiser club. ;)
I am originally from Akron as well. I lived in Cuyahoga falls.

There are some great placed to wheel down here...Cullowee, tellico, URE and many more in SC that I don't know about yet.

Hopefully you'll be in the market for a cruiser shortly after your arrival to SC. Plenty of them are out there and this is a great source of info for all types of Lancruisers. Most Cruiser folks are not real receptive to J**P's, so try to understand and overlook that a bit. since I am sure you'll be buying a cruiser before long I'll give you the official salute and welcome. :flipoff2:

umm, I grew up in Youngstown :)

Buy a cruiser! :)

This is a LandCruiser club but we could always use a token Jeep member........ we have had them in the past :D

South Carolina isn't the best place for wheeling........ not to many hills or mountains especially around Charleston. You will find plenty of mud though!!! However as Eric said there are many great OHV areas near and in SC so you can still have some fun.

When you get into the area next year get in touch with our club you will be more than welcome to hit the trails with us.

 and good luck

Welcome Dustin. It looks like the previous posters probably answered your questions. You should come to a meeting when you are in SC. I believe there is a Charleston group...

Hey wow, so did I Dan! Go figure! :flipoff2: Actually, our Mom (Dan is my brother) lived in Akron for a long time, so we know that neck of the woods pretty well. Welcome to the south.

Oh, and go buy a Cruiser.

LOL, sorry about that guys, i guess i didn't read the message board long enough to see that you were a cruisers club. But, i guess all the toyota stuff should have given it away for me. Obviously i'm a little more familiar with jeeps, but this looks pretty interesting. I'll will move down in Jan. 2008, but will be down this fall to find a place to live first. I will definately get in touch with who ever i can when i take a trip down to hit the trails with y'all. Until then, i think i'll stick around the message board to learn what i can about cruisers.. Thanks again guys.. Oh, and on behalf of North East Crawlers :flipoff2: , thanks for welcoming me in.

Hey this club has always had a token Jeep. Justin you can be the official one.

Sounds good to me, does anyone have any pics of their cruisers i could take a look at...Hopefully, we can all agree that those H2's and H3's suck!!!! I just hate those :censor: things to no end..

My uncle has been big into the wheeling in Charleston. When you get down there, let me know. He can hook you up with some trials or 4wheeling groups in the area.

And um.. Buy a Cruiser. ;)

Thanks, i really appreciate it. I've been searching the internet for a jeep or any off-road club(s) near charleston and i can't find one!!! This sucks!!! If your uncle would know of a web address or anyone I could get in contact with I would really appreciate it. Thanks again.

Dustin

I've got nothing against jeeps, they serve a purpose. Charleston is an awesome city, you'll love it. What brings you down this way if you don't mind me asking? As for wheeling, i don't know, I go to charleston for the beach

I picked up my '65 Austin Mini Cooper S in Akron....welcome.

Actually, I visited Charleston just once with my cousin and his wife who for the moment live in Myrtle Beach, but are moving back to Charleston in a couple of months. I just absolutely loved the city, and the surrounding cities, the plantations, the history; just everthing is different and i like it. Secondly, i just finished my 8 years in the Army and my step brother and I have a general contracting/construction business here in Ohio, and we want to move it down to Charleston. I'm so sick and tired of this horrible weather, its so depressing up here. So, thats why i'm making my migration south.

welcome:flipoff2: we need a jeep guy to bash every once in A WHILE;) alot of jeep guys wheel with cruisers:D get used to the term heep:grinpimp: kidding man all joking aside h2 and h3 really do suck:beer:

Welcome! My grandfather was one of the original Wyllis Jeep dealers and I am a cruiserhead. Go figure!:D There are a million reasons to buy a cruiser, one will find you soon.

Good decision on moving out of Ohio, just bring your bug spray and don't forget to hydrate (beer, etc.) Remember, rust is not on the Periodic Chart.

Don't let 'em mess with you too hard RC, most of these guys have secrets of their past they try to forget, some of them starting with J and ending with P. And let's none of us forget the original FJ was marketed as the Toyota Jeep until they got squashed by the trademark police. My FJC gets called a jeep (little J) more often than not. Just today I pulled up next to a modded out Subaru WRX to tell him how cool his car was and he jumped in telling me how he loved my jeep and asking questions about it.

Sure you can ride with us. If we let Land Rovers tag along how can we deny an All-American icon. Plus we all like to get a chance to exercise our rescue gear; winches, snatch straps, hi-lifts etc. lol. Really most of them are trying to scare you off so you don't embarass them.

This blatant Cruiser bigotry reminds me of the BMW riders talking about Harleys. One of my favorite moments is when I rode up to the Beemer shop on my new antique custom hog and it took a dump right in the middle of their parking lot while I was inside buying a socket for my electric vest. They were all scrambling to clean it up (crankcase breather had pooted). ROFLMAO

It's all good. We try to get out pretty often and there are some pretty good places to go; public, private and otherwise. Plus where you are there is dune riding. Uwharrie is 50 east of Charlotte and is a mini-Tellico. You'll have a blast.
C'mon guys lets not let the J**p folks find this guy before we bring him into the light. BE NICE!

no doubt Bill. well spoken. Dustin, Bill's right. we just like to give people a hard time. I started my addiction to wheeling with a jeep. I had a 70 CJ5 with a 350 SBC. It was ok but I really prefer the uniqueness and the flat out toughness of the FJ40's and other cruisers. You are more than welcome to join us. Hopefully we'll convert you at some point. My sister still lives up in the akron area. Stow to be exact. She works for Keller Rigging.

SHHHH don't tell anyone, but word on the street is that el presidente has a j**p:grinpimp:
