Hey all, been looking for more info on the DV8 bumper. Can't locate it on the ORW site, or DV8. Any pointers? Doing research for a potential GX purchase! Cheers,

Only place I saw it available was by PRE-order through the GXOR-GX off-road Facebook group. It will not be available through DV8 until mid-end of February 2021

Reach out to Kai_lexy on Instagram. that's his GX. i'm sure he can point you in the right direction

What is the depth of the ironman bumper? It looks like it sticks out very far maybe 10" off the nose?

It sticks out quite a bit. I'd say 10" is roughly accurate. I sold the one pictured above earlier this year but it was definitely "out there", sadly any bumper will be due to the length of the nose on these trucks, there's just no getting around that.

I was looking at the DV8 along with the ironman bumpers since I am trying to plan my build now and buy the tires/wheels/ bumper and lift all very soon. I like the ironman bumper and I thought it looked like it stick out far off the nose. hoe was the finish on it? Did it wear well?

I'd say it was 95% of an ARB. I'd buy it again, mostly for the coverage/protection and excellent price. It held up well for us, but I only had it on the truck for a year before we sold it.

So you sold the truck or the bumper? You have a great build.

I sold the truck, back in May. Thanks, it was coming along nicely.

The Victory Strike doesn't stick out that far.

I have the DV8 bumper sitting in my garage right now still in the box. Now that I've added a lift and did the bumper chop, I'm debating whether to install it or not. Approach angles are no longer the limiting factor so the I have less need for a high clearance bumper. I keep flip flopping on whether I should keep it or not.

Usually you'd install all your accessories than choose your lift based on your final weight, but in my case adding the lift change my build plans.

How's the ride quality with your new lift? Do you think adding some weight may smooth it out?
Just a couple of things to consider.

Ride quality is fine, even with the heavy springs I ordered. Probably have <1000 miles on it, so I'm sure it'll soften a little more. It would probably ride better with the bumper and winch I had planned on mounting, but even without the added weight the ride quality is pretty good.

I chose the heavy springs due to the added weight of steel skids, sliders, and bumper. I ordered the bumper last year but due to covid shipping delays, I ended up getting the lift way before the bumper. Had I gotten the lift first, I think I probably would have gone with a combination of steel/aluminum skids and possibly skipped the sliders and bumper to save some weight, and also gone up on tire size. With the added ground clearance I don't need all that heavy protection because I'm no longer bashing the undercarriage nearly as much as I was at stock height.

What lift did you go with? I am about ready to jump on either ironman FCP or the Dobinsons IMS 352 front and 323 rears.

Can you post the picture of the front bumper chop? I'm debating whether to chop or front bumper.. I just want a better approach angle..

I went with Dobinsons IMS, 3" heavy springs. I was considering the MRR but I didn't want the hassle of the remote reservoir and don't really need that performance.

this looks like what i was planning on doing. did you notice an increase in wind noise or whistling after chopping the bumper? do the plastic bits in front of the tire flop around and touch the tire when you are driving fast?

Do you get bounce from your fogs after the bumper chop? I do. That’s the only negative effect I have. Left front fog bounces.

Ive never used the fogs so I can’t comment on the bounce. I don’t hear any difference in noise but I also have a full rack on top that would probably drown out any noise from t(e bumper. The bumper is less stiff since I needed to cut the brackets and support molding that attaches to the bumper beam, but I haven’t noticed any issue. I’m sure it affects my mileage somewhat but with all the other mods the contribution is minimal.

Chopping my bumper wasn’t my original plan. It was a last resort because I was heading out on a trip to Utah canyonlands the next day and both my lift and my DV8 bumper still hadn’t arrived. i knew if I didn’t do anything to improve the clearance I most likely would have ripped off the entire front bumper since it’s one continuous piece. I didnt want to risk having that happen so the next best option was to cut as much as I could without screwing anything up.
