Hey all, just sold my 100 series today, and picked up a '11 GX 460 over the weekend. LOVE it so far. I had "thought" I was downsizing, but uh, they're not THAT much smaller. Had a lift already (bought from a Mudder) and I put a Pedal Commander in it already, and boy, is that a hoot. Have some mods planned in the short term, but need to bleed the brakes (have Techstream), and push some fender plastic around first. Then sliders, UCA's, and probably CC/MTS after that. Been driving LC's for a long time, and owned a 60, 80, and 2 100-series trucks. Been here on MUD for a while now, glad to be joining a new forum, and look forward to learning and sharing what I can!

Welcome! Sounds like you're pretty familiar with Toyota's and the forum so not much to add. Which lift, wheels and tires did you go with? Any pics?

I gotta get some better pics. Was just glad to get it home after a 1650 mile drive. Has the Ironman 2" lift on it, with the Nitro shocks. I had the FCP's on my 2000 Cruiser, and loved them, but I'll rock these for a while. No additional weight "yet" on the rig, so they should be fine. It has 285/65/18 Toyo AT III's on it now, and they rub on the rear inside at full lock.

I seems very few people run diff drops, vs almost everybody on the 100 series. Are the 460's CV joints not as prone to puking grease as the ones on LC/LX? Did they redesign the clamps/boots? I haven't even had time to roll under and ponder this great mystery...

Also, I ran some Wheeler Offroad bumpstops on my 100 series that were great, as it was easy to bottom out the torsion bars. Also seems to be a non-issue on the 460? On fast, poor fire roads, my 100 would bottom out on the regular with OEM t-bars. The Wheelers put an end to that. Cuz I kept a pair of those sitting around just in case...

Most haven't needed a t-case drop, my shop did not recommend one nor do they on any of the 460's that come through there. I haven't had any issues with the Cv boots coming loose and I haven't seen much talk of it on here either.

Welcome to the "little brother" LC! My wife and I also had our own 100 series, both had the factory rear e-locker also, which was available in the early years.
You mention that the GX is not that much smaller, but when we purchased ours, I immediately noticed (being a large six footer, that the 100 series was much wider, which was noted with the fold-down armrests next to the center console in the 100 series, but NOT in the GX. On the GX there isn't room to add fold down armrests next to the center console, the center console IS the armrest! Also, I've noticed it's not quite as deep behind the seats. I was able to sleep fully stretched out in my LC with middle seats folded down, but for the GX I need to slide the passenger seat forward and back fill the space between the front seat back and the folded down second seat to completely stretch out for sleeping. With the 100 series third row seats folded up, there is far more room in the GX with the third row seats folded down. Although if you remove the third row seats in the 100 series, you do get back a lot of space!

Even though the GX is a wee bit smaller, the advantage is we definitely like it WAY better on tight trails when off roading! This being on account of it having the same foot print as the 5th Gen 4R, which of course is one of the most trail worthy vehicles available.

And regarding the diff drop, correct, to fit 35" tires on my LC I had to do the 3" suspension lift, diff drop and make my own 1.75" body lift. With my GX, I did a 3" suspension lift, 34" BFG M/T's, BMT (body mount trim, common for the 5th Gen 4R's and GX's) and a wee bit of trimming of the inner wheel well and called it done. I asked questions about it and everyone says it's not necessary. 3 years into my build and never had an issue!

Yeah, I measured the width between the seats of the LC and GX, and there was about 5-6" missing on the GX. But at 6'4", I have WAY better headroom in the GX. My wife misses the fold-down armrests, but being a big guy, I always had my elbow on the center console anyway. It just "feels" roomier on the inside.

Regarding the body mount chop, I was fully expecting to have to do this, as the rig came with 285/65/18 Toyo AT's on it, and the fronts DO rub, but only on the back, inside fender liner. They don't seem to be anywhere close to the body mount. I don't know if it's the stock OEM UCA's help that? Or do some rub, and some don't?

True. The other day I was at the local Lexus dealer and got into the LX570, I was shocked that my hair was brushing the ceiling even with the seat all the way down. The GX has much better headroom.
