I am all set to order one of these carbs from you I hear great things about them I just have one question to make sure I get the right one...? I have a 1976 2f with a jerry rigged Holley carb on it now (have to squirt gas in it to get started). I don't want to get confused between mechanical linkage type and throttle cable type. I think my set up is stock but not sure 100%..? I have a cable running from my pedal to a bent up jerry-rigged bracket on the carb. I was not sure if mechanical linkage meant just near the carb or all the way from the pedal...? If you could please let me know which one fits my needs I would be grateful. I am hoping to order it ASAP! My rid is de-smogged and I've no intention of smogging it again I am in a rural county where I don't have to smog it for tags. Also run a Pertronix Electronic Ignition. Thanks in advance. Any way to call you?

Your cruiser originally had mechanical linkages. Which means there were arms and levers that moved the throttle. Someone has taken all that out and gone to a cable setup. So now you will need to order the cable setup as well probably get a new throttle cable. Get one that is listed in the first post of this thread.

Sounds good.

i left you another message,,, i got a mirror and looked under the float bowl i could see what looked like a rivet, but it is not painted. i am assuming that when you install the high altitude jets you mark the rivet with paint , so i am going to go ahead and change out the jets and see if that cures the issue,
my number is 775-220-3775 dave

Just make sure you don't mix up the sides.

The hi alt jets will be slightly smaller.

i changed them one at a time not to mix them up , the secondary jets where easy to tell the difference and it had the larger jet in so i switched jets. while on the primary jets the phone rings, well short story those jets are not so easy to tell apart even using a magnifying glass, so i may be changing the primary again if i put the low altitude back in on accident.

Hi thanks for the cable tip I ordered one and the other part you suggested. Let me know what else I owe you and I will get a paypal payment off to you ASAP.
Thank again

Just got a Trollhole

I recently bought one of these after my desmog. It's a good carb at a great price. Marshall got it out to me quickly and even helped me with a few questions. Nice guy. If you are desmogged, then this is a great option! You won't be disappointed.

x2
I was in a rush and I can say the same thing. I bolted mine on in about 20 min and 3:beer:s. Drove to southern Utah for thanksgiving with only minor adjustments. Ran great and I was getting better gas mileage than before:D
I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!
I only had time to get temp tags so I will let you know how the emissions test goes. Thanks for allowing me to get my 40 to the dez and back without any problems!

Hi Altitude question

I live in Colorado at 6000 ft and wheel up to 12,000 is your product configured for Hi Altitude or will I need to modify/ rejet once it gets here. I have a stock 78 FJ40 and am considering desmogging.

If you notify my in the notes when you pay through paypal that you need the hi-alt jets I'll install them before I ship them. If you don't let me know you might get an e-mail anyway as most CO people I ask that question. This past year I've been marking all the hi-alt carbs with red paint on the bottom of the fuel bowl.

Did you use the spacer to make this work???

THC carb w/ early air cleaner. I had to shorten the air cleaner where it mounts to the carb and drill one hole in the top to secure it to the Carb but other than that it was fairly straight forward. Runs great just like the other 5 that I have installed.

By the way Marshall I didnt get an invoice in the last shipment of carbs, so if you shoot me one I will get a check in the mail.

I live at 5500 in utah and goto 8000+ ft as well. Marshall configured my carb for hi-alt and it worked great

Which style carb do I need?

FJ40's & FJ55's mechanical linkage type (non throttle cable type) this is mainly for you 2f folks

$245 shipped to the lower 48

fJ40's & FJ55's with throttle cable type systems uses 1970-1973 FJ40 throttle cable. This carb can be used to retrofit those who have Weber or Holley carbs as well. If you have either of these carbs you will need a stock carb spacer.
Includes choke cable stop and stainless steel throttle cable bracket. You will need to purchase the throttle cable from SOR.com or Toyota ( SOR qty1 of part #042-04B-EC and qty2 of 042-34A)

The 290 carb for the cable. You will need to buy a new throttle cable. That being said I'm curious as to that carb that is on it. Any way of getting me a model # off it?

hey troll-hole, im looking for a de-smoged carb and dizzy for my 78 fj4, are yours curved for a de-smoged 40?
thank you for your time

-Michael

Yes. Have a couple dizzy and carbs left. And yes I'm close to being out of carbs. I ordered twice as many as last time and still ran out. Next shipment is on it's way.

 D'oh One day too late! What could I do to get in line for the next batch?

Thanks,

Andrew
