Marshall,

Money sent for carb going on a 2F in a 1965 FJ45.

Thanks!

Hi Marshall. I just installed my new carb today. Installed very nicely. I am having two issues that I can't seem to work out. I am not a mechanic or LC expert by an means, but can grasp the basics. Number 1..I can''t get the idle down. Carb idles way too high even though I am utilizing the idle screw. When I am driving the 40 it's rev'd up way high at a stop light, but runs great when I am on the throttle. Number 2...the throttle pedal now does not return to a full upright position from the floor board. The pedal seems to have a lack of spring to get her back to a low idle. Any ideas? I can send pics of my installation if that helps. Thanks again for the carb and any help you can offer. Cheers.

Couple things you can do. Sounds as if you throttle cable is binding though. I'd remove it and lube it up.

Second thing you can do is shorten the silver spring on the accelerator pump. Maybe a 1/4 inch. This will tighten things up.

Third thing you can do is bend the throttle cable bracket down a little to make the cable a little straighter.

And last you can attach another spring to the arm sticking out near the cable end attachment is.

Marshall,

I have one of your carbs with the mechanical linkage but need the cable set-up.Do you sell that separately? Is it a simple conversion?

Thanks,

Just wanted to take some time and thank Marshall for a offering a quality carburetor at a fair price...

Let me tell you... my turd was sputtering badly back firing couldnt hold a steady idle and getting like 8mpg... it sucked

I was going to buy a Webber 38... and I'm so friggin glad I didn't...

Let me just tell you this carburetor should be in every d smogged cruiser wow what a difference before I couldn't make it up a small rocky hill without stalling... now I'm smoking the tires on a hill in the rocks and getting bout 16-17mpg on hwy... frigging amazing

Thanks again
Marshall

I was about to scrap my turd that love and start over with a jeep

Hey Marshall, high altitude question for you. I didn't see any red rivet under the bowl, although I did specify high altitude several times. So I pulled the jet below and to the left of the sight glass and unscrewed the spare jet attached to the bolt. Is there any difference between the two, because I don't see it if there is.

Thanks

Sent you a pm

The right jet for high alt is noticeably smaller than the sandard low alt jet. There is hardly any difference in the primary jets.

Carb runs great! I have some exhaust manifold leaks to fix but getting close to driving the 40 again.

I swapped on a '76ish filter housing (fewer holes to plug) for the '79 Cali's. Both sit at the same height but the gap seems big to me. Does this look right to you? This is sitting freely, no wingnut on it but otherwise the lid is clamped.

Been having some issues with my 1 yr+ carb. I love it, but sometimes it runs very rich (My Air/Fuel mixture gauge is in the 10 range), then other times the gauge is a sweet 14-15, and runs better mileage.

Which circuit might get plugged that allows so much fuel to drip down into the manifold and how to fix it?

I have a spare carb now, so I could put that on, while trying to fix this flooding one
