2F Carb

Thinking about ordering one for my 77 FJ40. So the next batch of 2F carbs won't be until mid May? Is that correct?

Thanks

Choke cable stop and fuel line return fitting

All,

I bought my carb back in December and never did get around to putting it on until yesterday. Where are you all getting the cable stop to attach the throttle cable? Edit: Actually, I just read in the beginning of the thread that it was supposed to come with one.

I had my carb tapped for my '74's return line. What fitting do I need for this? My fuel lines have compression fittings on both and I can't use the Toyota fitting from my old carb because the thread is smaller. If I had another fitting like the one that came on the carb I would be set.

Fitting would be like #143 on the '75-'87 carb on the following link - this may actually be the part but I can't tell if the threads are correct by looking at the SOR catalog.

Hey Marshall
Sent you a PM regarding the carb on my 60.
Thx,
Pat

Finally got around to putting my carb on today. Sounds stupid but I am having a problem with the carb hitting the port of the carb isolator. See pic. I tried to move the isolator around but couldn't find a spot where it wouldn't hit the carb somewhere. I tried to bend the metal vent piece to clear the carb in the original place but the isolator broke...doh! Old age and too much force. What has everyone else done to solve the clearance issue. I guess I have to order a new new/used one from Spector now. Was looking forward to driving the truck today.

Caz, so where is the throttle cable stop supposed to slip into? I have the little barrel barb on the end of my throttle cable and can't figure out where it is supposed to sit inside to actuate the throttle, a little different setup than the stock carb I am pulling off.. Sorry for the rookie questions. The carb on my truck has been switched out a couple times by the PO so not sure what is stock and what isn't. Saw Trollholes picture of his throttle cable setup earlier in one of the posts but it looks like I would need to cut off that little barrel end to attach the throttle cable the same way he pictured.

Cut the shaft on the carb.

Use epoxy to fix spacer if you can. Only way to bend the pipe is to put it in a vise and support both sides.

Cut the barrel off.

Perfect, thanks Marshall. BTW, no one else make the mistake I did of trying to bend the vent tube downwards they break fairly easily out of the isolator and SOR doesn't have any replacements in stock. Gonna try to source one on here or somehow fix the one I jacked up. Doh!

Unfortunately that needs to be a 1F phenolic spacer too. I've tried the newer 2F spacers with the integrated heatshield on my 1F manifolds and they will not fit as is. A person could cut off some of the aluminum on the shield, but that may screw up the integrity of the shield. PVC just needs to make it to the intake somehowe. 2F's vent it to the rear part of the intake like the brake booster.

They hit near the head as I recall and the outlet you had interference with for vacum lines too as I recall. A 1F manifold sits lower and closer to the head than a 2F intake in relation to the carbs location.

I would try epoxy on the outlet. I'm running a 2F carb on mine right now. I didn't like the way the EGR pipe stuck off the side of the carb, so I cut it off, stuck a metal allen headed pipe plug in it and put JB weld on it. Has held perfectly ever since. The top stud on that carb was broken out too, it is JB welded on too, has held fine. Gas does not seem to effect it. I soldered a smaller hose barb in the end of my PVC outlet below the carb because the hose kept cracking from being over stretched over the pipe there, works much better. Now the hose barbs are the same on the actual PVC and inlet below the carb.

Marshall, I'd like to donate to your retirement fund, here are some pic's of my current carb situation and intake, which carb and or kit do I need to invest in? 69 F145, Aisan D40 1BB

As a note, I wanted to go 2BB, but the spacers are unobtanium unless you have a solution? Been looking at in the lost & found...not luck so far
