Hi! New here after i came googling on how to turn of the airbag on the passenger side 🤗

Proud owner of this 2001 Prado. Just hit 300.000. we take it away every chance we get. broke the original shocks in Morocco and now we rock the OME ones
THree months ago we were blessed with our first child. So now I have to figure out how to make it work in this 2 seater 😉.

Greetings, Makua

Hello, just got a 96 diesel 2 weeks ago. Has about 106,000 miles. Seemed to be in great condition. I knew the front drive axles were slinging grease and the power steering rack was leaking a little but now things seem to getting worse. But the big problem is a miss while accelerating (happened for the 1st time today). PO said he cleaned injectors, replaced fuel filter and replaced ECU. Taking it to the shop on Monday.

Welcome! While you are in there on the suspension may I suggest you replace the problematic ball joints with new OEM just for peace of mind? Although the car is from Japan you don't know the history and the problems you mention, and the lift, suggest it may have had the suspension under stress.

John, thanks for the heads up! I’ve read about that issue (and seen some nasty pics). It is definitely on the list!

Oh no; good luck hopefully nothing major

The 4Runner and Taco crowds also are across this. My own experience was interesting. When I first got the Little Prado I had the ball joints replaced by a decent garage--but even so when the setup was looked at again for a major engine and tranny overhaul they found play again so I replaced again. I'd suggest either doing it yourself or going to someone in your area who really knows this era of Toyota trucks. The 90 series is pretty close to a 4runner with a different body.

I'm way behind on my thread for the Little Prado.

Your front disks are 11/95 to 07/02 4Runner , pads are 01/95 to 08/04 Tacoma,
rear disks are 08/02 to 07/09 4Runner , pads are 01/90 to 12/06 FJ LC

Cheers

Very nice! It appears that I failed to look over the Prado very carefully. I noticed a week after I bought it that the radiator over fill reservoir was empty and had crusty pink dried coolant in it. Fast ward to this week and the mechanic has informed me that I have a blown head gasket! I’m so f$&kd

May not be a giant disaster. Hopefully you don't have a cracked head. But even so short blocks and long blocks are available. And you have the option to swap in a 5VZ-FE, but I'm not sure about the wiring harness. I've run into trouble just swapping a 5VZ from a post 2000 truck into a 1999 truck because of wiring harness differences.

Hi again everyone, sometimes we 90 people feel a little outside the mainstream, but I know that many would be interested in seeing some 90 series trucks.

A friend mentioned a nice 70 series event in TN:

It is in SEP and I am going to try to attend. I will be back in FL again by then, hopefully after having put this collection of parts back in the shape of a 1HZ

As @John Young mentioned, we would love to have some 90 / 95 Series join us at this Fall’s event.
It’s the largest gathering of 70 Series Land Cruisers in North America on an annual basis but
ALL LAND CRUISERS are welcome to attend. We’ve never had a 90 or 95 Series attend and would like to see that change. Drop me a PM if you have questions.

I think I may bring Golden Boy if @cruisermatt 's team figure out a mysterious current leak that keeps draining the battery.

A nice road trip from FL would be very pleasant, particularly because Matt's guys have done a bunch of comfort stuff like add sound insulation in the doors, which is badly needed in the 70.

Next year I am hopeful that the Little Prado will be finished and in the US so it could go. Having a hell of a time sorting out electrical gremlins after a mix and match engine swap.

It looks like I will be doing it myself. The mechanic wants $11,500. Includes $4000 for a new head, reseal the turbo leak, timing belt, water pump, injectors and glow plugs.

We have a few slots still available and I for one have never seen a 90 or 95 Series. Hopefully that will change this September. 😊
