John, thanks for the heads up! I’ve read about that issue (and seen some nasty pics). It is definitely on the list!Welcome! While you are in there on the suspension may I suggest you replace the problematic ball joints with new OEM just for peace of mind? Although the car is from Japan you don't know the history and the problems you mention, and the lift, suggest it may have had the suspension under stress.
Oh no; good luck hopefully nothing majorHello, just got a 96 diesel 2 weeks ago. Has about 106,000 miles. Seemed to be in great condition. I knew the front drive axles were slinging grease and the power steering rack was leaking a little but now things seem to getting worse. But the big problem is a miss while accelerating (happened for the 1st time today). PO said he cleaned injectors, replaced fuel filter and replaced ECU. Taking it to the shop on Monday.View attachment 3952171
I hope so, just had upper and lower ball joints done on the hundy. So money is tightOh no; good luck hopefully nothing major
The 4Runner and Taco crowds also are across this. My own experience was interesting. When I first got the Little Prado I had the ball joints replaced by a decent garage--but even so when the setup was looked at again for a major engine and tranny overhaul they found play again so I replaced again. I'd suggest either doing it yourself or going to someone in your area who really knows this era of Toyota trucks. The 90 series is pretty close to a 4runner with a different body.John, thanks for the heads up! I’ve read about that issue (and seen some nasty pics). It is definitely on the list!

That’s what I was told when I asked back in 2023.Your front disks are 11/95 to 07/02 4Runner , pads are 01/95 to 08/04 Tacoma,
rear disks are 08/02 to 07/09 4Runner , pads are 01/90 to 12/06 FJ LC
Cheers
Very nice! It appears that I failed to look over the Prado very carefully. I noticed a week after I bought it that the radiator over fill reservoir was empty and had crusty pink dried coolant in it. Fast ward to this week and the mechanic has informed me that I have a blown head gasket! I’m so f$&kdThe 4Runner and Taco crowds also are across this. My own experience was interesting. I'm way behind on my thread for the Little Prado.

It looks like I will be doing it myself. The mechanic wants $11,500. Includes $4000 for a new head, reseal the turbo leak, timing belt, water pump, injectors and glow plugs.May not be a giant disaster. Hopefully you don't have a cracked head. But even so short blocks and long blocks are available. And you have the option to swap in a 5VZ-FE, but I'm not sure about the wiring harness. I've run into trouble just swapping a 5VZ from a post 2000 truck into a 1999 truck because of wiring harness differences.
We have a few slots still available and I for one have never seen a 90 or 95 Series. Hopefully that will change this September.Hi again everyone, sometimes we 90 people feel a little outside the mainstream, but I know that many would be interested in seeing some 90 series trucks.
A friend mentioned a nice 70 series event in TN:

It is in SEP and I am going to try to attend. I will be back in FL again by then, hopefully after having put this collection of parts back in the shape of a 1HZ
