I bought two belts from Amayama, they are coming from UAE. I bought the A/C belt from a place called Hiace Southeast in NC. I’m in SC and the Hiace had the 3L TD as an optional engine. Thanks.
Sounds good. I got my block off plates from the Hiace Southeast guy. He was super nice and shipped fast.

Brought home this 97 TX today. I’m pretty excited! It needs to be de-chromed, white tire lettering reversed and a few minor things refreshed. It easily made the 800 mile trip home yesterday. I’m coming over from diesel Defenders so this is a whole new, reliable world.

what do you mean by de chromed? The mirriors and grill being chrome is a japanese exclusive option. UK spec is ugly black. I dont know about you but I would keep the JDM bits to make it rare.

Powder coat or just remove the roo bar and the ladder. I’ll start a build thread to share ideas, progress and get questions answered.
I removed part or the roo bar already to polish up the headlights. I’m liking the look.

Hey there folks. A new 1997 TLC Prado owner here. Used to have a 1997 TLC 80 Series a few years back and got back to the TLC scene with this JDM version.
1997 TLC Prado with automatic, turbo intercooled diesel. Located in Wadesboro NC.
Will be lurking for parts sources here and seeing who else is around this neck of the woods.

Welcome! I‘m driving your car’s little brother- same color scheme, just SWB. We’re a couple hours away from you, outside Raleigh.

I picked up this clean, low mileage 90 this weekend. Nice to drive though it needs tires and I wish it had cruise.
Did you happen to get it at Duncans Imports?

I checked out the Hiace Southeast guys site and was pleasantly surprised to see some basic stuff for our 97 Prado diesel there. Good to know. Now I just need to find front discs for her. Also NC here.

Hi all 90 series members. Welcome to mud.

This is a great place. Your 90 series tech can be helped by people from all over the world. :)

We also have a diesel tech forum on mud, so check that out too !

Thanks Tepui
Good. I’m back after awhile. How do I find someone in Las Vegas who works on landcruisers

ah I didn't know you were talking about the aftermarket stuff. Makes sense.

I think it looks much better and the truck probably lost 20-30 pounds up front. I did leave the fake skid plate on for now. Still deciding wether to keep it or not.

Have you seen the OEM japanese Bullbar with factory lights?
I have not.
Quick question while I’m troubleshooting and my repair manual is somewhere between Australia and here.
Is there a temperature sensor that disables the glow plugs for a cold start in warm weather? If so, at what temp do they come alive? I live in Phoenix and have not seen the glow plug annunciator illuminate.

ayy mate I live in Phoenix too! My land cruiser is over in Ireland and I will import it in the summer to AZ.

That’s my understanding with the 1KZ-TE… the ECU uses the engine temp sensor to determine glow plug duration, if any.

Hello, Art here from Peru... but born in the USA. Profile pic is of my 2003 120 as I loved my 1997 2-door 90 so much, but needed 4 doors for the 1st, then 2nd kids.

The 90 is more of a daily driver around Lima, but I've done a bunch of restorations, mostly of the interior... so the wifey doesn't ask to get a modern car! I've spray painted every interior plastic (except for the back rear one I can't get out), the dashboard, and put in a new head liner. Amazing how it all cleans up the interior and gives a new life to the tough exterior. Just did a sandblast and undercoat... mech said all looks good underneath! I will be redoing the upholstery shortly.

An interesting, probably Peru only, thing about my truck is that it was originally RHD, but for a couple years Peru was importing these cars, changing the drive to LND and then reselling them (Monteros too). Couple giveaways is that the automatic shifter button was still on the right side and I had to use my little finger to activate it (until I replaced it), the emergency break is next to the co-pilot, and most cumbersome is that the turn signal is on the right of the steering column... causing me to turn on my windsheild wipers when I'm back driving my (normal) 120.

Does this mean I have the coveted JDM? How would I know?

Pretty truck! Post some more photos!

Hello Fellow 90 owners.
My name is Simon and I have an 1996 Toyota Prado. I've had it for around 6 years, and it's almost done 300,000km's. We've been many places together, but not enough. My wife and I use it as a touring vehicle when we can and fit it out with an RTT, fridge and other camping gear when we go exploring. Our favourite spot to date is in the Pyrenees. Cheers.
