Hello All-
Well I picked my first LC in Charlotte and drove nearly 700 miles home the next day (a leap of faith I know) yet I was pretty confident in the condition of the truck and the seller. It was quite doggish on some of the climbs in the mountains but I'm not complaining. The only issue I had was the engine wanting to cut out for just a little while after stopping for gas or overnight. This morning it also did the same thing for a mile or so. I have to let off the gas and then give it gas again and repeat this multiple times before it's over and once its over, it won't do it again until later on restart. Being a new vehicle, I'm having my mechanic give it a bumper to bumper inspection but I would like to know if this sounds familiar to anyone. It has 213,000K miles. Thanks for you responses! Cheers.

Wow! It looks really clean! Congrats!

What's the blue on top? If it's e-tape, that is a good place to start.

Blue on top, do you mean the silicone pipe that the PO has used as an induction pipe? Works great and is not affected by weather conditions. It's quite expensive, but at the last shop i worked at i used to be able to get as much of it as i wanted. Awesome looking truck, mate! Well done on your acquisition!

Thanks

Very helpful gentleman. Thanks. Would it be considered silly to change the fuel pressure regulator even if it's not the main problem. It seems that the FPR is a simple yet critical part for the 62 to start and run properly and consistently.

Nice! I would have put in a bottle of Techron concentrate on the long hall. At this point, I'd change the fuel filter.;)

Sounds exactly like a fuel pump - but should pull codes to check. Would also replace fuel pressure regulator, fuel dampener, fuel filter, air filter, clean the throttle body valve, adjust the throttle body sensor, adjust the valves, and replace the wires, plugs, cap, and rotor.

add some

I would like to add to that is a full tank of gas and a can of SEAFOAM.it works believe it or not.

Your Cruiser is right around the same mileage as mine. I have spent many hours reading problem threads on MUD. In my opinion there are certain things that are prone to fail at around this point, so it makes sense to proactively replace them before they fail and leave you stranded somewhere. The Fuel Pressure regulator is one of them as is the Fuel Pulsation Dampener. O2 sensors, EGR modulator and valve, PCV valve, heater hoses and many more items as well. You can click on my "Garage" link and see what I have replaced on mine.

I would replaced the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel filter. I think if the fuel pump itself was going bad your symptoms would not be so specific and would happen more randomly. A failing fuel pressure regulator will show up after fuel stops and other short breaks, sometimes even after overnight stops depending on outside temp.

I just replaced the fuel filter on my 300k+ FJ62 yesterday -- the fuel that poured out of the filter on the downstream side was cloudy brown like it was filled with dirt. I should've replaced it sooner....
