New 80...in China.

Not to be a wet blanket, but are you sure the tuneup stuff is really Toyota? China's had some ... issues ... with that sort of thing. But cool rig, regardless! Pardon my ignorance, but what's the star you mentioned?

The thought of an American telling someone from China to be on the lookout for counter fit stuff made me laugh. I'm imagining the shock for SZ01 as if he's learning this for the first time. "Counter fit products? Not Here...not in China! I refuse to believe it."

No disrespect is just made me laugh.

Cheers on the new rig. It's pretty awesome!

Normally I wouldn't bother posting something like that, but seeing someone based in China talking about "I got all my fluids changed for 20 bucks, with genuine Toyota fluids" made me wonder.

On the other hand, maybe SZ01 just meant the labor cost for the fluid change?

It would be interesting to see the cost of ownership for a TLC in China compared to us here. Comparing all the stuff like initial cost, insurance, maintenance, parts, ect. Our fleet manager tracks that stuff here and my 09 Tacoma has averages 1 cent per mile excluding gas and oil compared to .14 per mile with our 1 ton diesel service trucks which are older. I am not sure if I want to see the cost per mile of my 97 since I bought it last year.

Pretty sweet rig, Perfect for Surf and Turf! Enjoy. We look forward to more photos playing in more locations on the big continent.

Really cool rig you have there!

Yes. that was just labor cost! Fluids themselves are pricy.

Awesome truck of course... maybe Mitt Romney (say he became president...) can delete the EPA/US DOT or whoever and we can get Asian/Europe models over here :p

I hear 20 year old vehicles can be imported? 2013 is not far away! The question is do I bring it back with me or sell it and buy another back in the states. FYI I could sell it here for 20,000 USD tomorrow which would would build a pretty sweet 80 in the USA.

I vote we keep the EPA. come to china and breathe the non regulated filthy air!

So what's up with the Chinese surf scene? Does the South China Sea produce some good surf?

haha.. well its 20 or 25 years can't recall right now.. plus cost some money.. be nice if you could get a stripped down 200 series in the US instead or buy used 80's from overseas on the lots here instead of red tape, etc :)

haha yea I guess the EPA is needed :D there's is always a fine line between industry and health and profits haha

I too have lived in a country where there are not a lot of rules. You will soon find garbage everywhere, and things like waste management get forgotten about. Not a pretty scene.
I did bring my HDJ81 back to Canada with us though. We were allowed to put it in the same container with all of our other belongings. Might be something for you to look into.
I believe the rule is 25 years old to import into U.S. I can't remember right now if your rig is Left, or Right drive? I think that makes a difference. And you could always park it for a while until it is legal to license it.
I would love to get my hands on a 200 series with the turbo V8 and a Left drive. I have a buddy with one in the Dominican Republic. Maybe the sweetest rig I have ever driven....

25 years old to import into the US, and I don't believe RHD/LHD matters.

Very cool truck, LHD/5M/sunroof/fridge/barndoors make for a rare combo!
