Well...I thought the five speed would be great as well...but yes its a hassle to drive around town:crybaby: I'm wishing I had held out for an auto but they are nearly impossible to find here. I've seen a few imported from the middle east but they were not for sale. That said the manual is makes the truck pretty quick (for an 80) and maybe better MPG? So far I calculate about 16mpg highway 12mpg around town. Anyway you guys should should all enjoy your autos.

Some GX's have the center console...some have bench seats...but I've never seen another GX with a sunroof which I know y'all complain about, but here in the tropics its nice to open it up for ventilation and get the air moving. I also which I had the factory roof rack! Its low profile and would be perfect for strapping surfboards the the roof. If I put on anything taller I wont fit in the local parking garages.

Because of the carb there is no EGR system, no computer, no 02 sensors, no PHH! There are a few vacuum lines that I'll replace ASAP and see if that helps. Maybe just clean the carb?

Just picked up all the stuff for a tuneup including Toyota oil?! The factory parts seem to be about half the price listed on the Toyota DIY site and what I've heard mentioned here.

Is labor here that is crazy cheap. The local mechanic charged me 20 bucks to change the all the fluids and change the belts. I'm jealous you guys have the space and tools to do your own work. I don't think I trust these guys with much more than the oil change. I asked them about the rough idle and their comment was 'yeah its old. they all do that'

Going to go figure out how to get that star...

Welcome to the addiction.. great truck. Good luck with your baseline on the truck. $20 to do all the fluids + brelts..WOW most wold give up the tools for that

Cooler and 5sp?

Very nice find! Enjoy!

Nice rig. I like the wheels are they stock?

Not to be a wet blanket, but are you sure the tuneup stuff is really Toyota? China's had some ... issues ... with that sort of thing. But cool rig, regardless! Pardon my ignorance, but what's the star you mentioned?

Toyota LC parts come from Japan for all worldwide destinations.

The LC Prado is manufactured in China for the Chinese market. All parts still come from Japan.

Looks like a good start to the new year!

Just a thought, for non-OE rims, it's good to check that the holes (for wheel studs) are not deformed/about to give way from over-tighten or wheeling.

Cheers

Are you sure about no PHH? The picture shows you have coolant for the heater. Is the coolant not from the head?

The spark plugs wires look very thick. Are the new wires as thick?

H151: awesome

1FZ-F: cool factor

K295: rear LSD: interesting

Plant: A11: Yoshiwara, ARACO

Sounds like the real deal to me.

All the parts come in the red toyota boxes or sealed clear plastic bags with Toyota Genuine Parts stickers and Made In Japan. I've looked over the parts pretty carefully and all the small details point to legit parts. That said this is China so anything is possible!!

Actually I'm not sure what part prices are in the stats right now...I'm basing my comparison off the site Toyodiy so I may be way off saying they are 'half price'.

This rig has a single factory soft pipe that comes from the head to the heater. Which makes me wonder if you cant use it on the USA rig as a 'factory' PHH bypass hose?

No...those are some crap aftermarket wires. The new wires are the black factory Denso (if they're not fake:doh:) and much thinner.
Heater Hose.webp

Fake parts are common in Asia. Even the branded replacement parts (e.g. Kayaba, Bendix, etc.) get faked!

But still, the genuine parts prices are way cheaper here (in Asia) than what I see from the prices mentioned by U.S. based forumers.

Labor is way cheaper here also. :)

How much does a cruiser like that go for in china? I love the left hand drive manual!

The Chinese labor cost is probably in the ratio of 1/8 to 1/10 of US labor cost including Ipad2.

You are making us in the US sick with envy. We were never offered a five-speed trans.
When I saw the footage about tracking Bin Laden, The CIA was tracking a white 80, stock, with 34" tires, a 3" lift over US standard, and diesel 5-speed. They tracked it all over Pakistan. I want that truck!
With all of the money that the CIA throws around, would it really be too much to ask? The witch is dead, can I have his truck?

Very cool man!!!

Great looking rig, and I'm jealous of the expeditions you have planned! I've always dreamed of long hauls through the Himalaya's in an 80... may be time to find a new job and try to make it a reality.

Where can I get one of these cruisers here in the states?

On a side note... Surfing in China?! SICK!!!!!
