Yeah dad owned it since '94. Had rust repairs a few years ago but both me and my father before me keep it well maintained. I guess I inherited his fussiness as well.
My whole family lives and breathes 4wds. Dad has an 81 RN46 hilux restored to near factory, mums daily driver is 5 inch raised FZJ105 cruiser, sister drives a 92 dual cab 2.8 hilux, 2 inch lift, muddies and a turbo, an immaculate 93 2.8 4runner that my younger brother will inherit in a few years and finally dad has purchased a '99 1hz 100 series lengthened dual cab custom chop that is his new project. We fitted a 4 inch lift last week, dobinson coils and shock, tomorrow the factory toyota alloy bar goes and in its place an ironman deluxe winch bar and 12 thou pound winch.

Hi my name is Rob.......

I recently bought an '87 BJ74 JDM LX (RHD, Cable lockers, 13B-T, H55, factory PTO) The PO seems to have taken good care of it and now it has 35's, 3" exhaust, OME 2.5" lift, PTO integrated into ARB front bar, proffitt's sliders & rear bumper/swing away)

I bought it from a mud member so maybe you've seen it 'round?......I flew to New Mexico and drove it back to Vermont where I live. After my 2,200 mile 2.5 day adventure I arrived home with really sore facial muscles (too much :D'ing!)

I have a ton of questions but am trying to continue my reading, reading, reading, and searching, searching, searching.....before I ask.....

I'm no stranger to cruisers...my first truck was a '78 FJ40, followed by an '84FJ60, a '94FZ80, and now the '87. I am so stoked its hard to describe. Its so good to be in a cruiser again....I relapsed when I sold my '94....I have a Tacoma that I will sell when I get the BJ74 dialed into my uses (predominantly "one man band" tree work)

The Tacoma's been great but as a person who drove cruisers and then the Tacoma and now is back into a cruiser???? Its good to be back!

2,200 miles.....You are either 5'2" or have the capability of totally ignoring leg pain.:D

LOL! At times I was cursing the fuel efficiency....As with one of my chainsaws I was eagerly awaiting a refueling break.....It would have been nice to move the seat back a couple of inches.....I got by with a variety of sitting positions and stretching/yoga at fuel breaks. The first step out of the cab was always a slow deliberate cautious step as my right foot was frequently the most impacted. I drew some raised eyebrows for lying on the ground next to the truck at the fuel pumps.....

Still don't know how you did it. After about an hour and a half in my HJ75 I am starting to squirm like an earth worm on hot pavement.:)

A decent after-market seat will see you never wanting to get out, my Stratos seats are amazing.

"my Stratos seats are amazing" ..... it is not my butt that hurts, its my
legs. Unless the seat can magically move back another 3" to 4" the issue still exist. :D

Ah single cab 75 series, now I'm with you. I cringe just moving them in and out of the workshop, 79 series are more comfortable but they don't have the same rugged character as the early 75s

"Rugged Character" ..... That is me alright. :D

Hi all,
I have been an long time reader of the forum and thought it was about time to say hi.
I am the proud owner of a 1985 Toyota mwb BJ73. The truck has been a long term project and has been done on a budget. So far it has 2" lifted leaf springs and 2" anti inversion shackles and rolling on 33" BFG muddies. Safari snorkel, HID driving lights and 4 spotties mounted on the roof and gme UHF. The engine is the untouched factory 3b with 345k's. Future plans are to turbo charge the 3b and a mechanical locker for the rear.

Get a SCCUS EU (local Malaysian) seat :) however the cost on OZ ($1000AUD) vs (1100rm a pair here ($400AUD) is unbelieveable.

Hey Guys,

New to this forum and to the off roading scene.
Got a '92 LJ70 that takes me where I want to go.

Currently reading through the posts getting info, etc.

More to come...!

Hello from Jordan

Hello all,

Just purchased this Toyota FZJ76, model 2009, engine 1FZ (4500EFI). Wasn't planning this purchase, but she was at the 4x4 store with my name all over it :)
First thing was changing rims and tyres, new seats in the front, new upholstery and fitting the tablet for navigation and entertainment.

Waiting for some ARB stuff, alrady shipped from Australia.
My Bedu friends in Wadi Rum are getting me some parts from Saudi to avoid the friendly folks at the customs and tax department :)

Nice, are you keeping the stock suspension? Whats in the ARB stuff?

I replaced the shocks with Old Man Emu. Springs are stock and will remain so.
No liftkit in the plans as the car is almost 4 inches higher than my pickup.
Waiting for ARB bumper, roofrack and steering stabilizer. Once I got that in my Lightforces will go backup.
