Anybody out there know of a good Toyota mechanic in North Carolina that is good with diagnosing engine issues? I'm talking about a mechanic and not a tech. This is for a friend with at 95 Taco, 2.7. Thanks

Whats your definition of the difference between a mechanic and a technician? Not being a smart-a**, just curious....

About an hour east of Raleigh, but travel to the western part (Banner Elk and Asheville areas) couple times a month. Does not matter as long as they really know Toyotas.

Difference between a mechanic and a tech: tech's are mostly the guys at the dealerhsips that only know what the computer tells them or what they have read in a book or class. Mechanic is the guy that maybe went to school, but definitely learned the old fashioned way.

Post here.

While some of us NC folks have seen this thread not all of us own 80's or hang in 80's tech. There should be a few in our club that could point you in the right direction.
