i have had 3 rusted diesel 60's , now i am looking at a reasonable fj62 1988 , need to know what the fuel consumption would be , i have a 15 km commute in the suburbs basicly a city commute of ten miles for you non metric guys .

You should stay with a diesel 60. I have a 1987 HJ60 and I use it to drive back and forth to and from work everyday 38 km's each way a mix of city and highway driving. I average 23 mpg. I'm sure a gas powered 62, even when properly tuned won't get that.....
Good luck.

i figured it out at about .26 cents per km or .42 cents per mile for the non metric crowd , ouch !

After changing my plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, ignition coil and cleaning my throttle body on my 62's 3FE - I got 13 mpg in the city and just over 15 on the motorway. I was shickled titless.

12 mpg city

like in joshua993's case, I'd be super lucky if I can get more than 13 mpg too, n that's even fillin up w/ 91 octane!! :bang: on avg, I get about 230 miles on a full tank [mixed use city n hwy]
but, that ain't stoppiin me from takin my cruiser around. :steer:

We get 14 around town in our 62. Way better than the 11.75 I get in town in the 80. I get 16 on the highway in the 80 and we haven't had the opportunity to do any highway driving in the 62 yet.
