I got a built 350 in my 40 and when I let a friend drive up some hills I noticed the axle rolling more than I like when he got on it. Need to build anti wrap bar and was looking for some good pics of how you guys mounted yours. Thanks

You will get a few pics just make sure you brace it where you join it to the axel real well or it will rip off.

When you are going through ditches and such your Axel is going up and down and twisting ,It will not come forward or backwards to rotate as it looks. There is many ways to accomplish this I used hi ems joints and shock ends.I,ve since straightened the single end so its more straight up and down.

One thing to remember when you build ,If you think its strong enough its not. There is a tremendous amount of force there.Use thick walled tubing and a minimum of 3/16 plate for the Axel.

Man, that is nice.

If that goes missing one night, you know where to start looking!

Anti wrap bars are used to prevent the axle housing from wrapping the springs up, that is making them look like a S rather than the normal arch they should be.. When the springs wrap, the axle housing rotates, as this happens the pinion points toward the sky.. When the pinion points too far to the sky, the drive shaft universal joint can bind and cause pinion breakage.. Spring wrap is more of a problem in SOA applications than SUA.. Anti wrap bars help get driving forces to the ground better too..

Still learning about fj's. But why does one need these. I have a 69 fj 40 stock, is it something I will need to do if my plans are to leave it stock? Thanks for any info.

You only need one of these for sprung over trucks. If you are gonna leave it stock or lift it sprung under then you'll be fine.

Later,

I must have been unlucky then, because mine is still sprung under & I destroyed a set of rear leaves on mine. Had to drive it 100k's home with the damn thing vibrating all the way due to the angle that the rear pinion was on.

You,ll have to check your spring purchases to see if they have been rounded off ,Only way you can break leafs on the spring under.

Yeah I wouldn't count on the stock cross member. You may want to build a more stout one. Don't know where my pics went
