Hello everyone!
I have a 2009 Land Cruiser GXR V8 (4.7 2UZ-FE, Qatari spec) that hit 150k km recently and I was advised to do the timing belt change. A friend recommended an independent garage that's run by ex-toyota employees and mechanics. The mechanic checked the vehicle and said there's a leak in "RR Crank Seal" so I authorized the repair for the timing belt and RR crank seal.
The issue:
It isn't a significantly noticeable vibration at idle but it has a bit more than it was before. What is significant is the 2k rpm vibration that can be felt throughout the car. This happens when the car is doing just about 100-105 KMPH on 5th gear. If you start driving after a cold start this vibration isn't there and once the engine slightly warms up (within 2 minutes) the vibration starts. It isn't there at a higher or lower speed. Even at idle if you rev up till 2k rpm and hold you will feel the vibration (just to confirm this isn't a balancing issue).
I took it back to the garage twice. First time they ignored me and the second time they acknowledged the vibration but said "if there were any issues with timing job then the engine wouldn't work. Since the car is running fine this isn't a timing issue". They proceeded to tell me this is an engine mounting issue and started quoting me for that. I told them this vibration was not there before the work they did but they would not accept it.
The following parts were changed -
The car has been driven about 4-5k km after the job and it runs fine apart from the vibration. It feels like I am going crazy with this. Although a small issue for most people this is mentally affecting me knowing they somehow ruined my perfect car. Please help!
