Hello everyone!
I've owned multiple classics but I’m totally new to the land cruiser scene. Just found a potential purchase. It’s an 82. I’m still not familiar with what to look out for, originality or most importantly value. Mirrors, door handle and air filter handle are being put back on. Noticed the tail gate is not the usual stamped one, Guessing that's fabricated? Also it appears to have two fuel fillers for some reason. I understand this was not a by the book resto so I can't compare it to bring a trailer values but I'm having a hard time determining its value to decide if it's worth my time to import it. It spent its life in Lebanon so the body wouldn't have been completely rusted before the resto which is why I'm considering buying it.

Would really appreciate your opinion and help especially determining its value!

Just keep in mind that is an old truck with a new paint job. EVERYTHING else is probably in need of attention. Proceed/Pay accordingly.

Photos leave a lot to be desired. Under the hood doesn't appear well tended. Do you have any paperwork documenting the work that's been done?
If this truck seems affordable and something you want, I say go for it. Value seems somewhat irrelevant unless your idea is to buy and flip.
There is a forum here on MUD especially for the 45 series where more expert advice could be available.

Another quick bondo bucket quicky paint job, hiding a nightmare of 40 years of hard use. Many years around these 45’s, its a $7500 truck, because it will need a full restoration in a year, after hitting potholes, and having bondo fall off. Not trying to be negative, but its the cold hard truth! Bet they want 25k? If you can get it cheap and dont mind the lipstick on a pig, fo for it and enjoy it without worry, they are great trucks to own and enjoy!!

He's asking 9k.

Really hard to go wrong at 9k, just expect to put another 9k to make it a reliable daily driver! Probably $3500 to import?

$9K seems sorta worth the gamble + the painful import fee. It will always be an 'odd duck' and won't appeal to every FJ45 buyer, but it's not too goofy. The tailgate is likely homemade, but it appears to work. The bed sides are wavy, which generally indicates loads of filler.

I would demand vastly better photos. If it really is a Bondo-buggy, then pass on it.

The bed sides scream bondo buggy!!! After import, and getting it sorted mechanically, you will be 20k into a rig, that will be worth maybe 10k? I would buy these inports all day as original patina, intouched worn out rigs… aka you know what you are buying!!

If you do buy this truck you will have a cool, unique rig and its problems can be fixed. Lots of folks start with much worse! I look forward to a build thread on it.
