After talking with Amaurer. I am going to try and find an electric speedo that will fit into the stock cluster. I can not afford to buy new Speedos and cut them up, but dead Speedos should give me all the info I need and a reasonable cost (shipping). Let me know if you are willing to send me your dead speedos and I wil cover shipping cost. Pm or email me at gulfsurfing@gmail.com.

If someone has already figured this out, please let me know.

Looking for aftermarket non original speedometers. Not fj40 Speedos. Autometer, ect.

And this is tech because???

Apologies, I misread the original post

I don't know what you mean by speed shop. I don't believe there is anything like that locally. Maybe 2 hours away in Atlanta. I will do some searching.

Gone to the local pick and pull and not much luck. It is a pretty small place though.

Cool diy digital speed. Not exactly what I want to do. Good info.

What a load of HW Engineer crap. You could retrofit your stocker with an 6-pin PIC micro and a $5 rc car servo. Some assembly required...

10f222, 2 GPIOs and 2 A2Ds, $0.39 in volume:

You forgot to mention the $400 worth of software and programing HW required to program the PIC chip.

And the slight learning curve involved.

gulf - if you wanted to go a custom route I could certainly swing it for you; as Eddy says a little PIC10 would be fine, or more likely I'd probably just use the the 16F628's that are scattered all over my house.

Do you know what sender you want to use........?

i am using the sender that came with my Orion Hd. I think it is a j**p style VSS sender.

I can't wait to see "tachometer mode" in action. I might even want one myself. The odometer is probably a whole separate project.
