if diesel is expensive
if you don't mind electronic controls

then it is hard to beat a 1FZE+T for performance and fuel economy ... if you can keep your foot out of it.

why not stick to the HZ as it delivers good amount of low end torque(for offroading) and are quite good at high speeds(for local n highways) and btw the fuel consumption in a well maintained 80series is 12 to 14 liters per 100km on highway(80 is heavier than RKR)so in my opinion the consumption will be much lower then in 80 series.
the FZ,s
Expect 16/17 L 100klm, Hyw.
18/20 L 100klm city.
thats what usually you will get of both the engines.....as crushers said its too hard to keep away your hard foot while driving a FZ...result a fuel guzzler;)

Just out of curiosity what is the difference in cost between diesel and petrol fuels in Pakistan?

I get 18 to 20 at its best kms per galon , down here in Colombia on the 1fzfe that is not good at all , I will think the 1hz does a lot more , 1fz does 14 to 18 kms per galon , in my 80 series that is on both cases , on the 70 series is lighter expect 2 kms per galon more on both cases, I get 16 kms on street and 10 kms on race mode per galon on the supercharged 1fzfe on the 80 series , the diesel engine has to be at leat 25% better on fuel economy.

Currently It is little over a $1 per liter or $4 per gallon of petrol. Diesel is around $1.15 per liter or $4.60 per gallon. We expect both to go up quite a bit over the next year

Then you should be sticking with the diesel because the 1FZFE will use at least 30-40% more fuel than the 1HZ.
On top of that you will have the cost of the conversion.

BJ74 Acquired

Ok guys here it is.

After much searching and deliberation i closed the deal on a FRP top BJ74. It is an 1986 or 87 production with a 13BT engine and H55 Transmission.

I plan on stripping her apart and doing a complete frame up restoration. The engine will be swapped for a 1HDT .

Look forward to everyone's input and comments.

Nice jaloppy.

However,
I fail to see why tossing out a perfectly good DIESEL engine for your environment for a 1HDT is a good idea.

REbuild the 13B-T with a performance TURBO and a put a 14B-T fuel pump into it (modified) to run 1.5BAR boost (or just limit to 1 bar) and you will be happy and also add a INTERCOOLER - specs and stuff you can see on this forum. Rebuild the H55F gearbox also. Up the tires to 33" and or 35" and it will just PURR along and get 8.5-11k a liter thats 12-9liters per 100K a 1HDT will not get anywhere near that well it might if you lay off the pedal). I would stick away from ECU's and stay mechanical whereever possible especially in Paktistan for diagnostic reasons etc.

If your going to toss the 13B-T send it my way and the H55F.

All up it will be cheaper option.

I had a tourist just drive my RED 13/14B hybrid for 4 days (jungle and highway) and was stunned he said the engine and car was better than his 2 year OLD NISSAN 3.0 POOHTROL.

Thanks for the feedback.

How much are you willing to pay for a 13BT with the H55F?

Haha nothing just send it over hahaha.

H55F's here now go for almost $2000USD a 13B-T is almost $4000USD.

i will concur, keep the 13BT or shop again for a post 1990 HZJ73, it would be cheaper in the long run ...

X2 .. unless this it's fun build and you want for sure 1HD-T engine ( which it's lot's of fun ) and in this case if you want to keep your H55F ( behind 13B-T ) you will need to swap input/bellhousing in order to use behind 1HD-T

You are spoilt for choice:D One other option might be to replace the 13BT with a 14B or 15B.
I think the 15B is 4.1litres ,so its almost as big as 1HD T.This would be an easier swap because you would be able to use your H55F ,existing engine mounts, radiator and electricals.

Whats your BJ74 ,12v or 24v?

Thank you wongtsenhin. It has some rust around rear right wheel arch and a few small spots around the back doors.

It requires work but all in all a clean and complete vehicle.

I have seen your build with the 1HDt. Your truck which looks brilliant. Bet it drives even better. Which transmission are you using?

Thanks for the compliments!:bounce::bounce2:

That's the "favourite" spot of rust when it comes to the shorty.:bang:
Definitely need some attentions on these area.

H55F is the box on my 75 and 275mm clutch disc. I'm trying to avoid as much work as possible. like shifting the cross member if I'm in a route of H151 which is my original plan. Anyway, H55F is a superb box.:)
