I need to do something about my trim/moulding. Clearcoat has peeled and looks horrible. I painted the rims with the duplicolor graphite and it actually matches the bumpers and trim pretty well. However, I'm contemplating going black on the trim, leaving the bumpers dark grey.

Eventually, I will be replacing the bumpers with aftermarket, but that could be a year or two off. Also, the duplicolor graphite has a little metal flake in it, but still think it would look ok after its sanded and cleared.

So what do you think? Repaint grey or paint black? If anyone has photoshop skills that could make that black it would be much appreciated.

I just used 3M vinyl wrap. There are a ton of ideas posted here... Trim Painting

An idea, if you simply want to get to a consistent color. When I was installing wrap over that center stripe on the molding, I messed up a few times and had to pull the vinyl tape off the trim. When I pulled the vinyl, it brought most of the remaining color off the stripe (it became almost entirely the lighter silver). I considered just using the tape to pull off the rest of the darker paint, but decided to proceed with the wrap.

Maybe try putting some tape over the center stripe on the trim and removing, it may make the color consistent enough to not need to bother with wrap or paint.

That's a really good idea. I appreciate the link too.
Not sure i have a steady enough hand to get it as clean as you.

I'd repaint it grey, I painted my bumper to match the trim, and I have the grey wheels to match. It looks nicer to me with the 2 tone.
