Need a rear bumper? BIOR rear bumper group buy!

when it comes time to repair an accident, id much rather have the point of failure the spindle than the bumper surface.

While that is true if the bumper is hit hard enough to damage the standard spindles, it will probably damage the heavy duty spindles as well. In either scenario I'd probably just get a new bumper

--------------------------

So I got the BIOR rear bumper installed, took about 5 hours, including installing the ARB on my previous FJC(sold to Aka Lumbajak last weekend)

Plastidipped quarter panels and I can run the spare underneath. It hangs about 4" below the bumper surface and if I go to a 255 or 235(Like Wrnrog?) maybe it can be hidden with the raising spare tire mod. Only part that scares me is the fact that one of the spare tire holders is on the oem crossbar, so if I run a spare down there temporarily it will be held in two points only. Having a spare down there for when I get tired of the opening of the swingarm can be a good idea for now. Photo of the spare is attached(its not lifted all the way in the last picture

Attached are photos of my BIOR bumper and FJC ARB bumper(lots of cutting on this one because the ARB hit a cow...thank goodness we have power tools these days!)

I will be covering the spindles with pvc and capped ends until I finish the spare tire carrier assembly, I don't want to rush this learning experience. So far so good!

Thanks for the great custover service Mike!(BIOR) Still want that bottle opener btw;)

Is this group buy still open? how far out is Mike on work? if its going to be later in the summer before they are delivered I may be down for one.

I believe the group buy is done and that everyone has received their bumpers. However, feel free to give Mike a call and see what he can do for you.

His phone is (970)590-5948 and his e-mail is mike@bumpitoffroad.com.

I got both the the rear bumper and his skid plates. Very sturdy gear...highly recommended.

I did some rock crawling today and the BIOR front, rear, and back bumpers and skid plates all took some big hits. When I got done with the trails I got out expecting to see some real damage and was amazed there was not a dent in sight. I have a few paint spots I need to touch up but that's it.

I know that doesn't answer your question I just wanted to pass on how damn tough these bumpers are.

Ohh I did break a taillight though when I slid sideways into a ledge. Anyone with a good source for replacement tail lights?

I also forgot to mention that the metal tech sliders also took a lot of abuse and performed flawlessly.

These are super cool, I was up at Mike's Shop yesterday picking up my new rear bumper and he said he was out of these and was having trouble finding a fabricator that would do these for a reasonable price.

So if you have one, you are lucky, might be a long wait for another run on these.

BTW, I really was blown away with the quality of his craftsmanship. That rear bumper is bullet proof.

I use my antenna with a splitter for AM/FM and CB and I could never fit in my garage using the tire carrier mount, although its probably more ideal. I can still get a sub-2 SWR from the mount I had Mike do up in the second picture, with a 4' firestik. I'd advise anyone who gets this mount to have him make the mount about an inch taller for the sake of room for the coax connector.

The carrier antenna mount makes a great location to stick on gunlock through for a farm jack though. :)

This is actually a 3' pictured, which was too short to give me a low enough SWR to work.

If I ever get around to installing a cb, I plan on using a quick disconnect for the antenna and mounting it behind the tire.

Is the tire carrier adjustable? Also has anyone tried to have him build the tire carrier slightly further to the passenger side to fit 3 cans on the other swing out? I'm not worried about blocking the liftgate brake lights since they're repetitive anyway.

Also, what are those tabs for on the bottom of the ladder? License plate?

I'm in the market for a BIO rear bumper (bolt on) anyone else interetsed in one? Maybe we can get togehter another group buy?

I'm interested in a HC. New GB for both? Or I could be persuaded to the bolt on.

Also, has anyone had an issue with the spare tire hitting on drop offs and ledges? It seems like its positioned lower than the slee and 4x4labs tire carriers.

I think in order to qualify for a group buy they have to be the same design and have a minimum of 5 (bumpers) people. This is all biased what the original group buy was. I would still need to check with Mike and see if he will even do it as well. Just gauging interest as this point before I contact him.
