I'm swapping in an aftermarket alternator and it looks like I need a bit bigger v-belt but am having a hard time finding a source.

The stock belt for my Fj60 for the alternator and steering pump was part #99343-11570-77. Looks like I just need something an inch or so longer but ever parts store I go to just says "dang, that is a big belt, we don't have anything like it"... even tried tractor parts stores.

Anyone have any ideas for a source?

TIA.

Call or email Gates in Denver. If you give them a part # they can tell you the one you need. Prolly a Gates belt, but that's a good thing. NAPA will do the same.

I have changed my sytem up with a second alt and a sag pump. I am currently using a gates lawnmower belt. Works great but was just trial and error on the fit. PS lawnmower belts come with lifetime warranty

Any place that handles industrial drives should be able to help. The will only have the industrial profiles "A, B and C" though which should be close enough. If they say they don't have automotive belts ask for the equivalent length in an industrial belt. Get a notched belt if possible as they grip better.

Napa usually has them.

Yup, I usually just head down to Napa with the belt that I need a different length of and they get me whatever I need. Usually in stock at the Napa in my area.

I tried NAPA today and they couldn't find anything other than stock.

However, I have a promising lead from Gates, which indicates:

"The interchange for the part number listed is Gates TR22625 which is 63
1/8th inches, TR22635 is an inch longer."

So I've go my fingers crossed that this will work!

Thanks all,

You will notice that the numbers you listed change only in the second and third last digits which are the ones that denominates "inches". The next, or last number denoted "1/2 inches" and will be either a "5" or a "0". That should help if you find that you need another 1/2" or so. The preceeding numbers and letters denominate width and type of belt.

Belt lengths can be measured as "pitch length" or "actual length" so they will not necessarily be exact.

I should have mentioned that it really depends on the Napa. My local one has a machine shop and does engine build ups and swaps. Last time I was in they were just finishing stroking a Chrysler v8 and dropping it in a very built FJ40. They are used to requests for funky or one off projects. Other Napas that I have been to are little better than Shucks (although my local Shucks seems to be better than average).
