Thanks!

I have a diff, but I think it was out of a Tacoma. I don't remember what the Gen3 4R uses.

What axle dies the third need to fit? 8” or 9.5”. I think I may have a 60 series third with 4.10 gears.

Do you know what year tacoma by chance?

He's not sure, he has never messed with a land cruiser before. He would need to check it out.

Tag says 1996. As I recall the Tacoma diffs were 8.3". I don't know what they put in the 4R, though something tickles me that they might have been 8".

Was it out of a V6 truck?

I have one I pulled out of a 2002 V6 4Runner but it was an oddball poverty pack SR5 with 15" wheels so I think it's 3.73 gears IIRC. And it needs to be rebuilt because the pinion bearing was toast and making lots of noise.

My friend found one local. Thank you!

Vince glad you got this solved up your way. Sorry I gave you bad info, somehow I was thinking 4cyl taco had 8" and got all sidetracked looking at my pile of 3rds.
In the light of day, checking Yukon Gear's site, different ring gear part number for 1996 tacoma/T-100 regardless of engine (8.4") and 4runner (8"), but axle shafts are the same.
Pappy is correct the taco has a larger ring gear so I do not believe Pappy's would fit the housing. 4Runner has the 8" same as mini trucks.

Confirming 4Runner and mini-trucks to be the same because the good rear diff/3rd member in my 4Runner now came out of a 2WD mini truck at a salvage yard
