Hi there. On my 2018, the micro SD is not reading so the navigation isnt working. The dealer gave me a second micro SD, but that also didn't work. Is there a trick?

I really don't mean to sound flip, but your 2018 is still under warranty, right? Sounds like the dealer is on the hook to make it work for you.

HTH

The dealer is a minimum two hour round trip, I was hoping their might be an easy fix.

Copy that. Sorry, I can't help with that.

No worries, thanks for responding.

I had the same issue with my 17 right off the lot. The SD card on the LC is VIN specific. If the have multiple LC on the lot there might have been a mix up on the SD card. If it’s a bad SD, the dealership has to go through the full diagnostic steps to get the authorization from Toyota to have a new SD card made for your truck.

I had a feeling it was going to be something like that...

The map is now VIN specific? So the only way to get map updates is to have one coded by the dealer to your VIN? Sheesh.

It's worse to get our IS updated. They plug the car into a laptop via a USB port and download the maps data. No actual media involved. $$$

Yah, that's never gonna happen.

Not sure about map updates. But I am positive that the the card is vin specific. If you think the price of our headrest monitor or the covers are expensive....you should see the cost of the sd card.

Stopped by the dealer today and they swapped in a new microSD and it worked. According to the Service Manager, the card is vehicle specific but not VIN specific. The card the trying to be helpful salesperson had put in my cruiser was apparently not specifically for a Land Cruiser.

Glad it worked out. I wonder if they changed the software on the 18. With my 17, they tried the sd cards from 2 other 200s on the lot. The results were the same. Only the new replacement SD card worked.

Was it perhaps a version compatibility issue with the navigation software? Did the other 200s have an update?

Not sure on version compatibility. The other two were 2017s just like mine. It was explained to me Land cruiser so cards are vin specific unlike other platforms where it’s vehicle type specific. Perhaps they simplified thing for the 18s.

Either the 18's are different, or the SD card is shop programmable because the service manager pulled a disk from inventory and put it into my L/C and it worked fine. They didn't pre-order one specific for my VIN.
