Did anybody figure out if this version has the override function?

To get to this menu, press volume and then press the upper left corner of the screen, then the lower left, then the upper left, and then the lower left again and the sub menu should appear. If it doesn't, then the override function is not available.

for you guys that need the override thing why not just do the dvd mod, i did it to mine and i can enter destinations, dial phone numbers and watch dvds while driving.

Downloaded this, burned to DVD+R DL disc using imgburn with no issues. Plugged it into the truck and suddenly it's 7 years newer! Looks like the PO had never updated the nav disc.

Data accuracy and detail in my region is still weak, but that's not surprising.

@MikeKennedy: Can you please confirm if the DVD Mod lets you enter Nav destinations? I was under the impression that the DVD Mod will only let you watch DVDs etc but not enter NAV destinations.

Spent the better part of five hours buying a dvd large enough, downloading the file, the bit torrent agent and burning it to disk (twice). Did not work for me. Nav system player could not read data. Not for everyone...

DVD+R DL? what did you use to burn it?

Dean, the disk is a Memorex 8.5GB DVD+R disk. I used the burn disk application on my Mac. Downloaded the file(s) directly to the burn disk folder and the selected 'burn to disk'

I used a memorex as well. hmm. I don't want to point to using a mac as the problem, but it might be. I don't know enough about macs to say one way or another (and i'm typing this on a MB Air). Any access to a PC?

Can somebody PM me if they have a working copy? I will mail you a self-addressed stamped envelope to borrow it and ship it back once I've done the NAV update. Thanks!

You can't just borrow the NAV disk to perform the update, the disc must remain in the player permanently. It's read real-time during use, not just a one-time upgrade.

I wonder about doing an update on my 2001 LX470. It has the climate controls integrated in the touch screen. Probably something else that having that system makes everything else difficult.

You have a Gen 2/3 system, which is not compatible with the ISO download in this thread. However you can find the DVD update on eBay for around $25.

Having the integrate climate controls won't effect being able to update the software?

Every generation NAV unit has the climate controls built-in. When you update the NAV DVD disk you are simply updating the navigation maps, and everything else remains untouched.

Best update called a Garmin, $170 on Amazon with unlimited free map updates. You talk to it it talks to you. Also love the fact it shows me my speed with my 33" tires and shows the current speed limit of the road I am on and if I am speeding it shows my speed in red.

Oh, I see. I had no idea. Thanks Anthony, I really appreciate the heads up.
