I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on running these much larger than stock filters from Napa. Yes I know they are they same as Wix.
Do they still run the risk of the ole' death by wix scenario?
I'm out after reading all the WIX threads. I spent the big bucks for the large OEM filters for my 40, and went with the YZ OEM filters for the 80 which I found for less than $4 each. Changed the 80's oil last weekend ... oil pressure is better than the Motorcraft filter the YZ replaced and I'm not looking back.

I do like the extra oil capacity and filtering ability. Also these filters hang off the side of large tractor motors so I assumed it was fitting for the 80
Are there any other manufacturers besides wix that make a large filter like that, that anyone has used?
Toytota makes a large one for these but they are near unobtanium and are now like $20 each.
Go to the Wix Oil Filter threads and read through. There are many other discussions in there about brands. The one that comes to mind is Baldwin. I'm going to stick with my Toyota YZZD3 as per my manufacturer recommendation........
Definitely wouldn't run any Wix product. I run the small Toyota filter as well. It's known to to have good filtering capability and the 1FZ already holds 8 quarts of oil. You don't need a bigger filter for any reason.
Exactly, the 1FZ has 8 quarts. Bigger filters just make the next oil change harder because it's hard to get a good grip on the filter in that tight space lol.
But seriously, my Sequoia with the 2UZ has 196k on it and it's used 5W-30 Synthetic with the small OEM filter since day 1; no problems at all. It even holds less oil than the 1FZ. My 80 has 160k and I don't see any reason to use anything different.
Yep, just reach up there with a baggie, unscrew the filter, no mess...no fuss. It DOES put a Ford product on your Toyota however.... and some consider that blasphemous.
