Mystery Sunroof Weatherstrip Location Found

When I closed my sunroof one day, I had a piece of weatherstripping fall into my lap. I posted a question to see if anyone knew where it came from. Where does this part go?

After some investigation, I located it's home and returned it there. It belongs on the rearward metal plate in the sunroof opening. The sunroof presses against it when it drops into the lower postition to slide open. My guess is to keep it from rattling? I couldn't tell any other purpose for it.

While looking into this I also noticed that the rear part of the weatherstrip on the sunroof glass itself is catching on the roof of the truck when it's closed from tilted up postion. It took some work to bend it back in place, but even then I had to lower it a bit at a time to make sure it didn't bind on the roof again. The roof looks like it's aligned properly so I'm not sure where to start with this one. I'd love some input if anyone has seen this before.

Reason #471 I love this site. I had that exact thing happen - that piece landed on the center console. I looked... looked... watched for leaks. Nothing. So, I stuffed it in the bin with other random 'Cruiser stuff. Now, it'll return home.

Bumping this thread because I just reinstalled mine after it being in the seat back pouch for the past decade. It fell out a long time ago and I could not find out where it belonged. Thanks!!!

I still don't have a solution for keeping it in place. Maybe I just didn't push it to it's recess enough...

I quickly tried setting it and noticed it didn’t seem snug. I haven’t spent too much time yet, but I might get some weatherstrip adhesive to help tack it in place.
