thanks guys, After that trip I have been tossing around the thought of choping the top in the back to lose some weight. I dont know how much I could lose after puting in some kind of roll bars and a soft top. I would think about bobbing it also but I kinda like sleeping in the back when camping.

yea, im working on that. Those tires are chunking really bad and they seem to ride in the ruts instead of climbing out. Ive only had them on the trails three times and already lost two tread blocks and have a crap load of cuts in them. when I get bigger tires I might start to look for a good set of stock springs to keep my ride hight about the same.

Amazing wheeling shots! Looks great! Get that traction bar in there before you do some damage.

Nice to see some wheeling pics with the red dirt and some local wrenching. Where abouts did you guys go? The redness of the dirt and the deep ruts make me think somewhere in central, but hey, could be anywhere around here. :)

Wish I had access to a shop, or else I'd have my Cruiser there, instead of in a shop in Waipahu waiting on parts for the past 5 months. Makes me want to go out and wheel!

We went to peacock flats, its out by yokes on the west side. Next time we go I'll drop you a line. What you doing to your rig, and what parts are you waiting on?

Awesome, hopefully it's when my FJ60 is running again.

As for the parts I'm waiting on, that's the problem. I have yet to find what part they're waiting on. I'm going to find out today though. So I can possibly source the parts for them. However, many of the bolts are beyond using again from all the rust from sitting next to Kaneohe Bay for a year while the p/o was in Iraq. Head cracked from overheating on the drive home, luckily it wasn't so far gone that I was able to get a machine shop to weld it back together. Hopefully I can get whatever is needed locally or from Cruiser Dan.

There is a 60 carcass at angels towing in waianie. no engine but most of the rest of it is there. I also have some misc. parts layin in my garage that I cant use anymore. Just let me know if you need anything.

Rear shocks look good for offroading but bad for highway speeds. Guess living in Hawaii means you're not travelling far at high speeds.

You can rack up some serious miles around here, but doing anything more than 60 MPH (~100 km/h) anywhere is just a dumb idea. Too many hills on the H2, H3 goes through one of the dead volcanoes, the H1 is just a bunch of parked cars in the morning and afternoon going to and from town, respectively. So you don't really need to go very fast. Hell, the fastest speed limit around here is 60 MPH, anything more than that is just dumb. And now that the cops here actually DO have a Speeding Ticket Quota, might as well be on the safe side. And off roading, depending on where he's living at, could mean just traveling down the roads to his house. I know where I'm at they're paved... somewhat. Up on the North Shore, just Kamehameha Highway and Farrington Highway are paved. Rest is beat up, rutted dirt track. Anyway, I'd take poorly maintained roads and no pollution over poorly maintained roads + tonnes of pollution (i.e. L.A.).

Yea the shocks are at a steep angle but I dont drive it that much. mostly to the trail and back and lately to school every now and then. Ive only put 11,000 mile on it in the last 2 years and most of them are from before the SOA. There is really no reason to drive over 60mph here, you can only go so far. I would like the shocks a little more verticle but they are too long to really do that.

On an Island, that is insane mileage.

Friend has an 07 Versa with 50k miles on it. Works in Pearl City, goes to school in down town, lives in Palisade's and works on his Cressida at his Grampa's house in Wahiawa. He does that everyday. His Versa was bought new here with delivery mileage. So yes, you can rack up some serious mileage here. Normal mileage out here is about 10- 12k miles per year. Some people get more mileage, some less. But that's normal. Also, if you went over the Ko`olau range, you'd fall off the cliffs on the other side. And if you went over the Waianae range you'd get blasted by Military Police because that's mostly live fire range plus where there are a bunch of FAA an US Army, US Air Force, and US Navy radar installations as they're located on the highest mountains on the islands over there. So you might get fried by high power radar. And seeing as there's no tunnels through the Waianae mountains you have to drive around them.

OH, YEA!!!! Just picked up some 12 bolt H1 beadlocks with 37x12.5 goodyears on them( they really measure 36"). Now I just have to get some plates to weld in a toy bolt pattern.
