Hey everyone. Picked up this 62 a couple of weeks ago. Was in Rio rancho. Currently in the process of pulling the engine. Gonna replace rear main seal and do bearings. Engine ran well and has good compression but a slight rod knock at idle when hot. Interior is in pretty good shape. Truck is from the Albuquerque area and has been here all of its life. Should be a fun project! This is my first 60 so will be going through a learning curve 😁

Long live the mighty 3FE.

Blue 62 excellent!!

Did you by chance purchase the truck from a guy named Tim?

Wait, you're not DONE with the 80 upgrades - you two timing whore

Obviously, polygamy is OK in Land Cruiser Country.....:rimshot:. If you can juggle it, I say go for it.

Been repairing a lot of little things the last few days. Cleaned up the console and shifter bezel and painted them. Replaced the dashpad. Gonna call Bear Nut upholstery and have them repair the seat and door panels.
Also making a lot of headway on the engine removal. Still waiting on a FSM that I ordered last week on eBay. Still not sure if I should pull just the engine or the whole engine and transmission assembly. I actually got the top bell housing bolts loose. Got lots of engine parts clean up to do! This thing was leaking oil for a little while!

Engine + tranny = one giant, heavy mofo.

So I'm in the final stages of prepping for engine removal and when I was removing the flexplate to torque converter bolts they were all loose. One backed halfway out. Starting think maybe this was the cause of the knock that I was hearing at off idle. Could also hear it driving under light throttle.

You going to go ahead and pull it or put it back together enough to see if it was the loose bolts making the noise?

At this point I'm going to pull it. Need to do rear main seal. Gonna check bearings and replace them. I didn't think about loose t/c bolts early on unfortunately. Gonna have the head machined as well.

Engine is out! Now the fun begins 😁. Thought I might have issues getting to the top bell housing bolts but lowering the transmission a few inches gave me enough room. Getting it back in will be interesting but that's for another time!

Looks good. Where are you taking the cylinder head?

Not sure yet. Went over to Empire last week to get a quote. Tried to call Knightons last week but no answer. Have any recommendations?

Oh schit! Knightons has closed. I was going to use them to build my 3RZ. All I can suggest would be Anderson. Edwards will do good too, but they are expensive. Budlong did my 3FE head.

Where is Budlong located? Empire is across from American Toyota and they quoted me 450 to 500 bucks.

They are off Southern and Eubank.
