Anybody have any experience with a body shop or shade tree mechanic to put on two doors and a fender? In the Birmingham area.

on what? your 80? Me.

Yea. I gotta replace two DS doors and a fender. I have the door shells and everything has to be taken off the old doors and put on the new ones. You seriously think you could help?

I mean, yeah. Just moving all the stuff over? That's easy. But making it "nice" will not be easy. All the plastic clips and double sided tape will need to be purchased before hand because they're all old and brittle, and some will break. That said... I'd just leave it broken, but I've replaced many a door and even sold a few sets as well...

I may try depending on quotes from body shops. Anybody know of any?

They've done work before on my 80. I was going to check them out.

long story but I installed Kevin's sliders in the parking lot of the shop(University Auto) where he was having a bunch of work done. The owner, Robert IIRC, gave me the grand tour and I was impressed by their work. If I need something done I will probably go there.

University Auto Body has it. So I hope to have it back by Saturday for the ride. I can't decide if I want to de flare it now or try to put the flares back on. I also have to take it back to Goodyear to have them realign it.

I did notice that the fender and both doors have a pin stripe that I will have to remove. So that is going to be fun since they are baked on from 15 years of sun and grime.

New doors and fender are on it. Paint has been touched up and it was aligned today. Drives better than new actually. Used to have a lot of wind noise from old DS door and now it's quieter than before. Washed her today too. So now I have to decide to replace the flares or leave them off and rhino line it. I kind want the flares back though. Decisions, decisions...

I like the flares

After the camping trip this weekend I can assure you that the flares do a hulluva job keeping the truck cleaner than the trucks without them.
FWIW

Yea I have noticed my passenger side is cleaner than my drivers side since one has flares and the other doesn't. I posted a WTB thread in the classifieds for flares.

80's aren't supposed to be clean...
Tan bed liner from the strip down and over the flares..

I must say this looks really good. Looks like they filled holes and you need a lift.

That Lexus belongs to a guy I met in Dallas last year at the lone star jamboree - name is Clay. I have contact info if anyone needs it.

I have deflared the 80 now. Looks more manly and less mall cruiser. It is growing on me.

Pics?
