Its finally here. I saw this over a year ago and kept going back and forth about buying it. In the end, I decided finding an all original 1967 FJ40 FST with only 78,000 original miles was to cool to pass up. This truck was purchased new in 1967 by a geologist from University of Berkley. I bought it from the family who purchased it in 1969.

Great find! Original paint?

Interesting that it lacks the 3 footman loops on the corners of the tub that my '64 FST has. I thought those were on all FSTs regardless of year.

Also I’m pretty sure this isn’t original paint. Original color for sure. But likely that means someone’s taken care to paint it and take care of any issues before they arose which ultimately has resulted in a Very very well preserved original body. Super nice find.

Is this the one that was listed at $20k for the last year in NorCal craigs?

If I had to guess- they are there but were removed and sealed up when painted as they weren’t needed with that top style.

I did not see it on craigslist. I saw it on Facebook for sale. As far as the paint goes, I have owned at least 25 fj40's and have been in the car business for the last 20 years. I am 98% confident it has original paint from a quick look over it. Not sure about the footman loops though. I did not notice that so you never know. It showed up after midnight last night and I headed out to work first thing this morning. I will check it over this evening and report back.

Also- white California sunned cruiser paint tends to yellow with age. While the pics on my iPad are tough to decipher...it would appear that the running boards and door uppers are original paint that has yellowed somewhat whereas the body on my computer screen appear a non-yellowed /more flat white color. It could just be computer screen tricks not showing yellowing in some areas.

And did toyota paint the turn signals and mirror arms and window holddown hooks white or silver in the late 60s FST’s?

This thing really has not yellowed much. It has been stored inside and had a cover on it for years. Last plate year was 2010 and it still has its original black license plates. It came with a car cover which is why the paint looks as nice as it does. I will post more photos once I get it cleaned up.
