No really you mite want to drill and tap that upper snapped Bolt ;)
When I found it it only had the one lower bolt and was an odd size. I think that odd bolt has been forced into the lower threads, so will have to retap that lower one.. I'm going to get two new bolts/ washers to replace. The upper bolt was missing, no broken bolt.

New City Racer brake booster installed using new Toyota gaskets. Brakes are working proper now. Also have changed fluids in TC with 75w90 and both Diff's with 80w90 gear oil. I replaced the drain plugs with new from Wit's End. I also adjusted the kick down cable. I used to get a clunk when going from Reverse to Drive and vice versa. The clunk is not noticeable anymore.

Update:
Washed it. Seriously haven't had any problems and it's running great. I've been using the ECT button and wow, it makes a huge difference in power. This thing runs better than my other two newer vehicles(taco and jeep). Gas prices are pretty tough to justify driving it too much though. I don't know how the California guys use their's as daily drivers with $6 gas. That's the only gripe.

I plan on buying some new OME stock height springs in the near future to bring it back to stock height. The original springs are pretty soft but the new oem toyota shocks have made a significant improvement. The next phase is to concentrate on quieting the squeaks/rattles with new bushings. I live on a sandy clay dirt road and driving the cruiser over the corrugations reveals every squeak and rattle until I hit pavement, it reeks havoc on my OCD. Maybe will throw down for an ARB bullbar as well for deer protection. This cruiser is too nice to do an off road build up and beat up on it, so I will keep it as close to original as I can, using it as a nice occasional driver. Don't need lockers for beer runs, LOL!

I paid $3.00 - $4.00 for 93 when i lived in Ga. a decade ago and $8.00 for C16 race fuel. Now i am paying $5 for 91...lol

Thanks, it's been a learning curve on the 80 series over my past fj60's. There's a lot more electrical to worry about. Those old 2F's really didn't have much to worry about besides all the vacuum lines with the carb. I still think the FZJ80 is the pinnacle of the Land Cruiser line-up that still has a little old feel with the solid axles verses the newer independent suspensions. There's just something about solid axles and the inline-6 that make the truck seem bombproof.
nice work so far

After procrastinating long enough, I finally got to the PHH, heater hoses and clamps, new heater valve, lower two radiator hoses, and new starter contacts.

Nice work, J! Do you put many miles on your 80?
I've racked up a whopping 1000 miles since I bought it back in Sept. 2019. Just the occasional beer run and slow speed touring around the farm so far. I've found that 1st gear in high is the best cruising around gear on the trails, but I do put it in low range occasionally. Truck has been running great, just buttoning up some deferred maintenance. With gas so high right now, no need to do a road trip anytime soon.

When it cools off in the shop this evening, I will re-install the starter, fill up with distilled, check for leaks and do a flush and drain, then refill with Prestone green.

Next up is installing the two new oem rear door's belting, new inside felt for driver's door window, fix the rear driver window back in the track, and while I'm there, fix the rear driver's door fender flare. That should do it for a while and I will drive it a few more miles before I find the next thing to replace or fix.

I thought I remembered you mentioning that you didn't use your 80 much at all. Feels good getting the maintenance c/w!

Yep, that was me! I've got a Taco and a 2door JK for my main transportation so have not been in a hurry, I just want it to be reliable for future trips. If gas ever comes back down to reality, I want to take a trip out west to the Land Cruiser Museum in SLC and also visit my old stomping grounds around Vail, CO. For now I'm just enjoying having something to worry about and tinker on. This is my fourth Cruiser(first 80) in the past twenty years after owning three FJ60's previously.

The interior needs nothing and it's been painted by a PO, so no work was needed except the usual baselining. It even came with an almost new set of BFG AT's in 265/75/16 with a new spare. The PO had about $5k in previous work done by a shop in B'ham, AL.

I've spent about $2k so far in new parts. Still need to figure out why the cruise control doesn't engage, but I think it might need a new speed sensor. :meh:

Looks so good. I like the pinstripes too!
Thanks P. I’ve actually put a few thousand miles on her since and she’s sitting at 211k + now. I’m focusing on a couple of 40’s now days though. Check out the Montina build In the 40 section. Also have her California twin in transit that’s been sitting for 26 years so stay tuned….
