Opened the carpet.
Made it alot further before I ran into more of the same.
Just going to find someone to do it right.

Got the wheels back on. Greased and torqued. Then spent some time flailing because my wiring diagram didn't jive.
Turns out the reverse lamp only works with lights on.

So im having a bit of a temperature issue. Thought originally it was the tstat. After tstat, still heating. Pulled rad, found a fücking balled up paper towel. Reassemble and retry. Mild improvement but wants to heat up idling or after load and radiator cant recover. Heater helps a touch. Its way cool out still so this needs dealt with pronto

Did you check the upper and lower outlets? Where there is one paper towel there could be 2! I'd pull both sides of the upper and lower hoses and go fishing in both directions.

Talking to a datsun aficionado this morning. Think im going to just go aluminium.
This cant be recored. It appears that these systems are known to be lacking.

I had the radiator out flushing with the hose, that's how i found it in the first place. I also ran the hose through the engine.
Flow seems legit

Since I have to wait for the new radiator for a minute, I went ahead and pulled the old one again. May as well see if it can be boiled. Any level of improvement would be appreciated at this point.
While pushing it around i noticed some fluid from the LR. Fearing the worst, i tore the wheels off again. Good news is, not the brakes. Looks like both axle seals are leaking. One just worse. I checked the diff vent while I was there and its clear.

As mentioned, i took the old rad to the shop yesterday. Guy is asking me some troubleshooting questions. I tell him that ive bought a new radiator so if he can't make this one better its not a huge deal.
I tell him its overheating at idle and can't recover properly.
He says, "does it heat up with the new radiator?"
Mind you, i didn't say up front that i didn't have the new rad yet, but logic right.?!.?

Funny

say datsun to a parts guy and watch the deer in the headlights. I was able to "find" these locally after wasting time in the Timken catalog.
For the sake of google-fu. All roadster rear inner axle seals are the same. These are on the shelf local.

The seals that came out have the Nissan part number so they are either og or nos. Currently nla.
Not much "lip" on the ones i pulled.

Its way easier to find a cam seal for a Honda than anything for a datsun. Lol

For those that don't know. Bearings and seals can almost always be searched and found via dimensions. Takes moar time since the parts monkeys basically refuse to do real work anymore. Catalogs available online sorted via dims, part #, etc
