No I never made the SST. The problem is not knowing what pressure range is acceptable. a new tool from a vendor (OTC not toyota) is $250--that's a little expensive for me to determine if something "blows"...I should check on the toyota price, though.

Yeah I checked on the Toyo part # 09258-14010 and nothing is listed.

Small hijack of your thread, here, sorry, but I'm looking for that tool 'cuz I'm still getting 0 % O2 in my smog tests even though all components of the AI system check good, including signals to the VSVs from the computer ... Only thing I have not checked is the new rebuilding factory air pump I have - it blows, but I too would like a relative value. I'm sure the SST has pressure readings on the gauge, but of course FSM does not list. Although I did find a general diagnostic that said pressure should be between 2-6 psi.

A tester should be pretty simple to make--a proper size hose barb and some other pvc or abs fittings, with a pressure gauge and an outlet with a 5.5mm hole--more or less. If you think the pressure is in the range listed above, just get a 0-15psi gauge.

Yup - gonna make one out of PVC pipe.

So I finished up replacing the manifold gasket last night with a new one from felpro. The old one was not so bad but the lower bolt between cylinders 4 and 5 was loose so maybe I did have an exhaust to intake leak. When I started the truck up I did still have an exhaust leak. It was late so I didn't check where it is but I presume it is either the EGR J pipe flange or the tail pipe gasket (I think it was leaking here before). Are there any suggestions what I can substitite for OEM for these gaskets? I'm goin to try the remflex EGR gasket. Can I use a proper size three-hole collector gasket instead of the doughnut? Or is there something else? Thanks.

The challenge with the three-hole collector gasket is the asymmetrical stock pattern. Remflex makes a three-hole but it's for a symmetrical aftermarket header application. My OEM doghnut gasket there never seems to last very long :frown:

Thanks. I was afraid of something like that. I might get some remflex blank sheet and cut my own or double up the oem doughnut.

Any one else?

After blowing out a couple the super-duper gaskets, I went with Mark Algazy's recommendation and used a Toyota OE J-tube gasket with a healthy dollop of Orange RTV on both sides. I have the SOR SS J-tube. So far, a year and a half later, no problems. For the Exhaust donught-gasket, at the CAT/collector ends, I used a fel-pro. Looked just like OE. Also a bit of permatex, but I doubt the permatex will last very long with those temps. Anyway, no issues, so far.

OEM on the collector gasket is Ishino, if that matters, and available thru partsgeek.com I got the fel pro from NAPA.

CDan can not get a new OEM EGR valve for me. Rock Auto was listing two on their web site, but when I ordered one, they came back and said that neither were available. Does anybody have a source for an aftermarket EGR valve for the FJ60?

'tain't cheap, though ...

http://www.wellsve.com/custom_searches/ds_egr.php?oem=25620-61071&submit.x=34&submit.y=23

And of course, there's always SOR ... Mark Algazy might have one, too.

Just an addendum: I did a bit of searching and it seems avail of this part had dried up ... I bet it has something to do with the Japanese Tsunami .

2F EGR valve is now discontinued from Toyota....we found this out a day or two ago. :(

thanks for the leads. I had seen the one from Napa, but was hoping for something cheaper. SOR shows "0.00" and "not in stock" for a new EGR. But they have used ones--but then so do I...

1sttoyotaparts.com has "accepted" my on line order, but since Dan and Beno say it is unavailable, I'm not hopeful that 1st toyota will come through.

I should have purchased one when I started this thread in January--it was available then!

Wells and Standard Motor Parts both list one, but they were probably just rebranded Denso ... So I dunno ... This ain't gonna be good for CA drivers.

My local Vatozone says they have 'em in the warehouse. $170.

btw, 1sttoyota accepts everything ... Your unhappy email will come later.

update on this treasure hunt.

A few weeks back I went to most of my local auto parts stores: monument (a local chain), autozone, carquest. Nobody has an EGR valve.

Today I emailed Standard Motor parts asking about the part EGV931. They were nice enough to respond stating the part is discontinued, there is no supersession and all stock has been depleted.

NapaOnline showed they "in stock" at the warehouse, so I reserved one. When I got home I had message from my local napa that actually they don't have one anywhere.

Spike: if you're still with me--what's a vatozone? they don't come up on google except as slang for autozone.

Google is correct, slang for Autozone (where the Vatos shop for auto parts ... )

See if SOR has any left in stock ... They're usually the last ones with anything left 'cuz it'll be full price +. Might also try Mark at Mark's Off Road.

teq is oem, right? i got a brand new one from them about a year ago, but i'm not sure if thats what you're talking about or not
