That's the air cleaner that comes with the Weber (I think), a lot of posts out there about how it's too restrictive, but there is an adapter to put a K&N on the weber that is supposed to work very well (ALL FROM WHAT I"VE READ NO PERSONAL EXPERIENCE)

The blue ride is mine.

That is the air filter that came with the Weber Kit I bought.

Eventually I'll get the adapter to run a bigger air filter but not yet.

Maybe your brother can fab one for you:D

I have a question, I live at 5500ft, I am wondering if I should keep the HAC or just build more advance into the timing to compensate for the "always on" HAC? I am doing the desmog right now. If I keep it, I don't have the emissions FSM so I need some help routing the lines. Jim says top three to carb and bottom one to dizzy. What about the port on the very bottom of the HAC?
Any help would be great.

I could probably help you out on the HAC, I'm desmoging and I kept mine. The bottom port I just have 8 inches of hose on it and it just dangles. The only problem is you have to adjust your timing.

First, thanks Jim & Gabbo...I decided to delete the HAC altogether, only trips Ingrid will make out of state are to Moab, just about same elevation. We just advanced the timing a couple degrees past the original 7, so it would idle nicely at about 850 RPM at operating temp. Just got it done and WOW, even w/o the rebuild on the carb and the recurve on the dizzy, it runs GREAT. Pulls in low RPM 3rd Gear, is more responsive and doesn't have a smog pump and and new powersteering!!

I will post some pix in a bit, I gotta clean up!

Nice! Is it just me, or did desmoging improve anyone else's gas mileage? I just filled up and it came to 17 MPG! Mostly freeway driving, but it's still better than it used to be!

I routed secondary (High Altitude) vacuum port on the dizzy to the aircleaner above the carb (one of those 3 long prongs) so its atmosphe based and its unpreassurized, not vacuum. Cool?

Dat's fine.

Stay Tuned, I'm posting pics of my hack desmog today...Looking for you guys to tell me all the things I've done wrong, or at least, what I can do better.

okay, it ain't purty

Sorry for the mess, PS pump is p$%$ing all over everything, and didn't have a good place to clean it up before I took pics. I did my best to follow all the diagrams and what not, but I'm sure there is stuff I still need to do. Things I know I need to do

1) get an EGR block off plate
2) Do something with the pipe that goes to the exhaust that used to be connected to the hose from the air pump (don't knw what it's called...don't care)

Everything else I"m leaving up to you guys. Let me know what I did wrong, I bow before the cruiser gurus

Okay, Got to run to the mother in laws, I expect all kinds of responses before I get back....Just messing, have fune, and I hope you get some laughs out of anything I screwed up.

here is my final...... i think

i followed the diagram. only think confusing once the truck is in front of you is the HAC stuff. it is so hard to distinguish the lines, and it is cropped out of the one pic.

the VCV on the pass side over the distributor..... do i have this one correct?

hard to see the end points on most of the lines, and i ran everything behind the airbox for a cleaner look.

also, took the smog stuff bracket and chopped/grinded/bent, etc to make the HAC/VCV/AC idleup by the carb fan.

Jim, let me know if this is correct.... please.

one more thing, what does the screw on the carb do just below the window on the front?

thanks again
jeff

btw, Jim, your carb rebuild i put on is great.
