ok so i should probably post up my junk so here it goes .

n501234748_1661830_6485019.jpg

shes a 1974 fj 40 , i bought it back in march . it came sprung over with 60 series leafs in the rear and fronts flipped , 60 series axles , sm420 and a 350 chev , 4 bolt main with a worn out quadrajet on top . aussie locked front .

the first thing i did was rebuild the 350 , the p.o was running 20w50 so i figured it was in need . i did a in frame job because thats just how i role , edelbrock cam and clevite bearings are pretty much the only high lights of that part

so now the engine has better oil pressure running 10w30 then it did with 20w50 , i had a slight issue with my first set of bearings destroying them selves for no reason so i got to do that part twice.

after that i put in a rear aussie locker and fixed the rear end since it liked to scream at me before .

i found a pair of seat heated power leather seats out of a volvo luxury car that i got for free and jammed those in there

that is the best picture i have of them , they pretty much just bolted up actually .

and yes i hate the dp its hideous but the rig sees more dirt then cement so .....

and no that seat isn't installed in the rear i was just transporting it since we jammed my lawnmower in my friends van for lawn mower racing that night .

future plans ? possibly put in my other winch in the back . and keep fixing things here and there , body work , possible nv4500 .

for some reason i like heavy slow worm drive winches . im not sure why .

well it was time to fix the rotted out body mounts in the back . p.o had reconstructed them using about an entire tube of caulking so i removed them with a screw driver and hammer .

here is whats left of the support channel after i was done with it .

and here is the new one i made .

the channel in place , i had to cut it to get it in there and then weld it back together when it was in place .

patch pannel's .

my metal working set up .

i also got a jack all for free and decided to mount that , it just needed new role pins which i got again for free .

Looking good! Sounds like you're doing well with your fab skills.

Not a thing in the world wrong with slow worm drive winches! Well, sometimes they'll bring the tree to you instead of you to the tree...

Looks like a very well set up 40, lets see some pictures of it in action:cheers:

ok so i got some better pictures of my seats .

i needed tunes but not a center console so i did this in about 20 minutes . its a pretty hack job , going to re-work it one day but for now it works .

n501234748_1733345_422644.jpg

there was a random jug for a coolant overflow tank that didn't work that great so i also stole this from the volvo . had to fab a plate for it to work but im pretty happy with it now .

p.o had the winch power and ground coming off the side posts so i threw together some more for the tops , i think there is now 3 runs of 00 welding cable for ground . not sure why but hey what the hell .

i also grabbed a wiring harness out of a 2001 freightliner and hacked up the circuit board and relay board , im not 100% happy its were it is but for now it works well . alot better then the random in line fuses and relays all over the engine bay making no sense at all .

n501234748_1733364_2193642.jpg

one day i will just replace the stock fuse box with a big set of self reseting breakers since i have the box sitting around .

finished product of my floor fix , i could of made it a lot nicer but i really just wanted water to stop coming in through the floor so im happy with it . the scariest part is how much more stable the cruiser is now that those mounts are fixed .

n501234748_1733365_3130872.jpg

i also made up this anti theft device for my spare tire , even though i no longer have one thanks to a big chevy stuck in the mud and me being to nice , venturing in skidder land to pull him out .

4660_88433174748_501234748_1733322_2115721_n.jpg

1" bolt , drilled a hole in the side that now accepts a pad lock .

most stuff i do on my cruiser is free , the only thing i have really paid for was the engine but i get all parts for cost so its no big deal .

who says a cruiser has to cost you money .

Those seats do look comfy !! Nice work, I'm a fan of "free" myself !! Did you stick with the Rochester? (what I run)

there is a q-jet on it , what i bought it with . i just put a manual choke on it because i didn't want to bother with a heat riser .

i don't know how happy i am with the q-jet , but i have a friend who said he would rebuild it for me . i could do it myself but hes a 50 year old auto mechanic and loves those carborators and im just a 20 year old hd mechanic so its an obvious choice .

if im still not happy with it after the rebuild i will probably swap in a vortec engine .

or just leave it who knows . right now im just trying to find another tire :)

did you own this thing at one point ?

nice build up, very similar to mine. whats the benefits of the 60 axles?

6 or 7" wider, self adjusting drums on back, possibly disk fronts if newer.

mine are from 1984 and they don't self adjust .

however i have front disks .

No, never owned that one. Nice truck, though !

new tail lights .

i also had to get a electronic flasher for the l.e.d's the only one that would work with the factory wiring was found a western star . 20$ grrr

i also delt with this but it seems i have no after pictures yet .

my camera died at this point and the shutter barely moved .

i still need to put some plate on it , already pretty damn tough . 10x tougher then the stock one that i bent by standing on it .

got some new seats , 20 way air operated adjustable air ride out of a 2007 volvo semi truck . they are simply amazing .

they fit like a glove , 4 bolts and they were done . the volvo seat belt also went into stock location and even had the same bolts . i used 1/4" x2"x2' flat bar under the tub to support the seats so they won't rip out in a crash .

i only have the drivers in so far . passengers is tomorow .

also got a set of air horns of the volvo and a electric over air solenoid from the truck , all installed but i still have to figure out the wiring since its polarity sensitive . 3/8" air brake line going to the horn , its frigging loud .

Those look like my dads vovlo seats from his 2007 that he totaled. strange if they are them seeing we're both in the loops. I want to see those things installed. Do they actually fit?

Gotta have pics of those seats installed!!

did it have an isx in it with all north american driveline ? they might be his seats :)

it looked like the trailer went right over the tractor , ripped the fifth wheel plate right off the frame and ripped the frame behind the cab .

if so i also have his horns , seat belts , and a few other things :)
