lights with your DRL kit

Looks like the Philips LED DayLight kit has come way down in price...

Only I didn't see how many lumens or how bright these lights are watts? Any ideas on the brightness of the Philips brand?

(Deleted Product Dimensions)

I was also wondering how well these might work with your DRL kit?

Ultra bright 1360 lumen

PS. I ran these for a year and the soldered bulb burned out one one of them...they were great while they lasted.

and the more pricey end of the scale I wouldn't mind a set of Rigid's.

Ultimately I'm looking for a nice in between light that will work well and hold up well and will work with your DRL mod.

Thanks

I think the Phillips dimensions you've listed are for the shipping package. The lights themselves are much smaller. Only 6.5" by .75".

The lights have two brightness levels, one for daytime and one for night. The day setting is almost bright enough to drive with in the dark!

Wow, yeah, those did go down in price! I just barely looked at those some days ago and I think they were 120ish.

Yep, this is true. I actually just hard wired mine and ditched the day setting, I run them high all the time.:grinpimp:

Thanks for the info on their actual size. I kinda thought the product dimensions listed were not for the lights themselves, not helpful to list the box size or whatever dimensions they were using.

Could pass the Philips up at that price. If others have had success with them I too will jump on the band wagon.

Just ordered up the DRL ARB (Thanks WildYoats) mounting hardware mod and the 8 LED Philips lights...I think I'll just run them hardwired as well without daylight setting.

Looks like they also sell the 4bulb option instead of the 8 if someone didn't want to cut their bumper up...

WildYoats, I just wanted to tell you again how pleased I am with this setup! The Philips LED recommendation has worked flawlessly, and your mounts still look better than ever.

Thank you for a great addition to my Land Cruiser. I constantly get compliments and inquiry's on the DRL's.

wheres the cheapest place to get an ARB Bumper?

Just read through this whole thread! As always, nice and clean job on the light install!

Quick question.... I'm assuming part of the reason for the bracket is to help fill the space of the hole for the light since i'm guessing the DRL is thinner then the original turn signal, so i guess there is a large, gawdy gap? Anyone mind holding one of the DRLs up to the empty hole and snapping a pic?

Thanks and you are correct.
The DRL itself is .75" high and 6.5" wide where as the stock turn signal is 1.5" high and 5.25" wide.
I made the brackets as such to avoid big gaps, have proper mounting, and of course give it a little bit of flare with the stainless hardware, similar to the robust look of many LED off road lights these days.

I'm going to order a set of LED holders for an AOE bumper. I'm an idiot with electrical so can someone confirm that these lights may be used as turn signals? My issue is that the AOE bumper covers up the signal lights below the headlights. Therefore I need signal lights on the face of the bumper and I think this is the coolest way to get them. Would it just be splicing the led wiring into the turn signal wiring or does it require more than that?
Thanks

Just got mine installed

Technically they should work yes, but I suppose they would be one expensive set of turn signals (and they would be LED white too if that's an issue with your local laws) and of course you would lose the whole function of them being daytime running lights as well.
