Hey man, just wondering what your source was for the fender work. Mine are not as bad but your solution was what I was thinking of doing to restore the line to the fender arch. Where did you get the metal that you welded up? thanks

Was looking at the pictures of your frame and I noticed that it looked pretty good. Did you swap it out or are you just lucky?

Define source. Are you asking where I got my materials, or who did the work? I'll answer both; I bought the Flex-a-Arch at Canadian Tire, and I welded it on the truck myself. Finding good metal to weld to was next to impossible with the amount of rust the arch has.

As far as I know it is stock, I'm positive it's stock. When the truck was built, I'm assuming it was built around 1997-1999, it looks like they heavy coated the frame in Por-15 or some sort of thick undercoat. The frame was reinforced forward of the rear wheels where the early frames were C-channel, the leaf shackle mounts were gusseted, the rear top shock mount bar was replaced with a solid bar, and the frame was re-inforced where the rear bumper attaches for extra strength for towing etc. The frame is starting to rot in the inner pieces that are on either side where the stock spare tire sits (I'm sure you know where I'm talking about). The outside frame in that area is fine, and the rest of the frame is solid as a rock, the body is just completely shot. This truck was originally on Van Island up until it was brought over here, I'm thinking around 2000, because the guy who had it before me said he owned it for about ten years.

I got moar done on the rear 1/4 arch, and started on the roof. I'll update some pictures tonight.

I'm back. I've been doing so much work lately I figured I would document at least some of it. The rust fixing is coming along really well, I figured some of you would want some ideas on how to fix yours.

never seen ARB switches mounted there......thats a new one for me!

Wow, got lucky with the good frame! Looks awesome so far, keep up the good work!

Basically, I cut where the exhaust heads of the driveshaft behind the t-case, adjusted the angle a bit, and mounted the Flowmaster 40 at about a 45 degree angle to the truck, as close to the floorboards as possible. It fits like a beauty, sits higher than the frame rails. doesn't interfere with the driveshaft, and leaves enough room to work with the outlet piping. After utilizing a few bends from the 7.3L exhaust, I managed to snug it up close the the rear leaf mount and the frame. I was able to use all the stock exhaust hangers, it sits super close to the frame and leaf mount, and is tucked up high enough to keep from getting ripped off in the bush (if I haven't ripped it off in the bush, nobody will).

Here are a few pictures and sound clips. The videos were taken from an iPhone, so sound quality could be better, it muffles on video #2. It also has a deeper sound when under load. Tell me what you think!

Videos are from 750rpm-2700rpm.

WOW that is alotta cancer man! Good work tho, but that Hachi is awesome! Dont putan SR in it!!! 3SGE with ITB's or 3SGTE!!

I went from a 4age, to a 4agte, to a 4agze that didn;t work out for me. I'm looking for good, reliable power, for cheap. The 4agze with a turbo is capable of 300hp, the mk1 Supra rear end is capable of 300whp, but the s***ty T50 transmission won't last long with 200hp. An SR is a 2.0L 4cyl turbo, fits like a glove in these cars, will make me the power I desire, and parts are cheap. I know it's treason, but putting Chevy engines in Toyotas is worse.

The weather was nice for a few days, so I had the oportunity to work on the driveway. I took this to my advantage so that I could keep the dust down in the garage, and have some headroom being the roof is so high.

42 holes. A much bigger job than anticipated. This was after the first layer of fiberglass. I was blown away how easily the roof rack bolts came out, probably due to the silicone sealing them from the factory. I was also surprised with the condition of the rubber gaskets under the roof rack feet, you think after 25 years they would be dried out and cracked, but they look and feel like new.

Haha man that video was rad Spence, My three year old daughter said "dad when will your landcruiser do that?"

Hows the rust around your windshield and under the rain gutters in the front doors? Mine seems to be hit there the hardest so far. But shes taking the winter like a champ so far. lol

The rain gutters had some rust in them, directly under the drip rail above the passenger rear window it is rusted though, but other than that it was just rusted around all the roof rack mounting points and the A pillars on the top corners of the windshield. Then random holes all the way along the sides of the roof above the rain gutters.

You can see the rust above the window in this picture. the truck was parked on an uphill slope for just over 1.5 years, all the snow and water sat in the rain gutters and rusted em out. Sad really.

How does the heat blow in your HJ? My HJ60 blew crazy hot heat from the front and rear heaters, my BJ blows lukewarm even after a full flush. I also don't get over 160 degrees around the city now that the cold has hit, even with a double winter front.

the hj is good once its warmed up. takes about 15 mins of driving and never past 1/4 on the heat gage at 1200 rpm idle. I just did a flush kit then new coolant and 45$ thermostat! fawk. Still the same. but its -16 here so kinda chill even for a gas job.

Finally got some paint on the roof. Since these photos have been taken the rough spots in the bodywork have been fixed with bondo. I initially didn't even use any bondo thinking that it would look fine, but once the gloss paint went down all the imperfections cam out. I know it's the roof and nobody is going to see it, but I might as well make it look half decent.

These were taken with my phone in my garage, so it's pretty crappy quality; it looks pretty damn good in the sun though. I will try to get some good picture with a real camera tomorrow. What do you guys think of the new color so far?
