Good afternoon mud!

Quick question about the 4spd manuel in the bj60. Is it the same transmission as the fj60? I'm swaping a chevy 305 into my bj60 and was wondering if the the bolt patterns are the same because I would like to use the marks adaptor kit to keep the original transmission.

Thanks!
-Ian

Ian, the BJ 4 speed uses a different input shaft on the trans, it is not the same as a gas or HJ 4 speed
the 4 speed housing is the same, but the input shaft is the problem
you will not be able to use the "B" input with any adaptor to a chevy V8

no luck selling the rig?

Yeah no luck selling it... Is it possible to swap the input shaft or am I screwed? Could it possibly be machined?

You can still buy the correct input shaft and swap it in the transmission, though it's a big job as it involves almost completely stripping the transmission.

it can be done but not worth it, as stated above.
you can find the correct 4 speed for not much money but then you would need to take your transfer case apart to install it on the "new" trans
you can also find a trans/transfer combo and use that, that would be more

Lolol been here done this with a bj swap then decided to go LS - long story short - its not worth the effort - go find a gas job h42 - add a ranger torque splitter or marks adapter and bolt things together

Those are your cheapest v8 swap options

Advanced adapters has a solid set up more $

Good to know guys. Thanks for the info!

I had a Torque Splitter 30 yrs ago when I did my sbc swap in my tan 60. Other than the whine from the straight cut gears, I absolutely loved it.
