Thats sucks major ass. Same thing happened to me a couple months ago. Fags pryed in the rear sliding window... jacked all of my DeWalt tools. Also in my "gated" parking garage. I could have killed somebody that day. Did you leave the face on the Alpine? Then theres the insurance deductable that has you wondering why you bother to pay for insurance....

Send that blood in for DNA testing. I'll help you hunt down and beat the bastard.

Cruiser Dan can get you replacement dash panels.

Now that its all ripped open it looks like I could try to replace this center section -- maybe a part and some tips from CruiserDan? Hey, while its open, does anyone need any intel on what's behind this area of the dash?

Sorry to hear that your rig got rip. Be careful with that drop of blood. Look on the bright side, it is time to get a center diff lock switch.

fj803fe 80s are NOT easy to break into. They get in from teh front doors? I have had to break into mine. But it takes a good levering bar from the slider windows in rear

Are you kidding me??? I can brake into an 80 with rear sliding windows in less than a minute man... LITERALY ... I do it all the time ´cause my dumb ass keeps leaving the keys inside ... all you have to do is pop the plastic cap over the locking clip ... wedge it with flathead and give it a good wack ... you´d be surprised at how hard you can hit that window without chipping or shattering it ... I´ve wacked that thing HARD when im all pissed off for locking myself out and haven´t broken it..... and a 15 dollar clip sure beats calling a locksmith while you sit and watch you´re gas tank burn away ... hell I even keep spare clip nowdays...

breaking into 80´s through the rear sliding windows is common in my country ... so people usually put those key locks you see like at jewlery store displays .that keeps the glass from sliding ... another solution is to place a tiny aluminum block on the windows tracking/railing and then screw it in place ...

I don´t know if making myself clear so I´ll tryb to get pics!

You should have the police run a check on the blood, they might be able to find the bastards. Or maybe I'm watching too much CSI.

Thanks for sharing the pain, everybody. Damn, I am still so f'ing pissed off. Everytime I drive my rig (at least I *can* still drive it) I have all this sh!t hanging off the dash in front of me as a lil reminder... F F F F F!!!!

Everyday I drive to work I park in this same garage downtown; along with probably 300 other cars. The brand new LR3 next to me didn't get hit; turns out a crappy old Honda Accord got it worse than my truck, so there's no rhyme or reason to these little junkie f's.

Yes, the face was on the stereo. No, no camera in the garage, No, I have no alarm (yet). Called the cops back and they took a sample of the blood to include with the report. Fact is, this is *only* a property crime, they're never handled with much of a priority by the police-- that's just how it is, and I get it. But yes indeed...just once...to catch the lil puss in the act...what I wouldn't give for that chance right now...damn. It would *only* be a couple broken bones-- and those heal right?

Gotta look into how much to replace that middle dash part, then onto the stereo, then maybe those little jeweler locks or a bar in the rear sliders... I just hate it all. Ah well.

(*I LOVE THAT FISH HOOK IDEA!!!* Beautiful!)

Ever heard of a hid-a-key?! :flipoff2:

Sucks about the stereo, I know how ya feel looking down at the empty hole, since I had that happen in my 88 4Runner. In that case though they just pryed the lock out and lifted a lever. So I shaved the locks and got a descent alarm. I also used hex (allen) screws for all the metal brackets and to the radio, although I wanted those security hex heads with that center pin. Anything to make it harder to remove, besides welding.

But about the LC. With the 3rd row seats folded against the windows, wouldn't that slow them down quite a bit more. Although I guess they could cut the strap, but I do like that idea of the jewelry case locks. Question is.. do you put the lock on the inside or the outside of the window? Also, if there were a way to lock the seats in the folded up position, only a monkey could squeeze past them.

Yeah, thought about the seats being folded up there (they were dropped at the time) as a way to slow them down, but really they're just held up there by a little hook/strap. Just pisses me off that I have to cow to these pricks at all; I use my third row so have to keep them easy *for me* to use... I like the idea of the little allen bolts to hold the stereo in though.

Once I fix all this mess I'll likely do little things like the bolts (maybe even the fish hooks!!!), the bar in the rear slider channel, etc. Might have to break down for an alarm too, but am not sold on that just yet.

First off, finding that middle dash part... :crybaby:

...And running 10,000v electricity thru the outside of the truck when it's locked. :flipoff2:

Just lil suggestion, next time if you planning to have something valuable inside the cruiser should get all the windows tinted dark.At least doesnt look too obvious for them to see what inside the car.I spent $25K just the inside. :grinpimp:
P.S:Also if you concern those tinted are illegal/ cops may pull you over because of it, well roll down your window. But once you hit highway/freeway roll 'em all da way up.

Um, IF and I do mean IF I was a nefarious mofo thief and If your car looks like that from the outside...I'm thinking...This guy is completly "off the hook" and must have some crap I want on the inside....And that tint...Hmmmm must be something I REALLY want in there....

My car on the other hand looks like....well like the owner has 2 little kids. KIds that may or may not have left a side slider open or some interior lights on...If they poke their head in they might heave (as in nearly vommit) at the interior of what I affectionately refer to as "the rolling landfill"

Anyway...sux about the stereo

On a positive note at least you don't have to hear whatever your 3 girls are into listening to

REALLY sorry to hear it.

What a bum deal.

Hope it won't happen again!

Mot :frown:

Couple years ago I saw a deal available in South Africa - apparently they have a car jacking problem. Flame throwers that came out from under the rockers.

Humm.... cops don't have time to put effort into a theft, but they have plenty of time to write speeding tickets? Interesting....

I wouldn't make it too hard to get the radio out of the dash, it just means they'll do more damage trying to remove it. If they get into the vehicle and can't get the stereo out, they might just smash it up out of frustration too. Remember, you're dealing with the dreggs of society. If you can keep them out thats best. To really keep them out, do the atv ramp rack like wildyota

And instead of doing like someone said to put two on to make a flat platform, but two on and make them hinge all the way down over the side windows.

Man that sucks. I see stuff like this, and it just makes me fawking steam!! I think about the type of person that would do something like this, and the only thing that comes to mind is severe torture or death..., which disturbs me a little. I generally consider my a fairly rational person, but the dishonestly and total lack of respect for something that someone else has worked hard to have, leaves me with little compasion for people that do s*** like this.

Maybe I need some theropy.

People suck. I had my 88 Toyota 4x4 stolen a couple of years ago with 285k miles on it! WTF? 285k on a 13 year old truck and they steal THAT? When there's BMW/Mercedes/LRs parked in the exact same place...

FAWKERS. Some dude stole the rear-wheel off my $25 mtn. bike in gated and covered parking and then LEFT A DIFFERENT ONE! WTF?

And then people wonder why there's so much pent-up hostility in the world. Decent people pay the price for the a-holes, you're damn right that makes me angry...

Ugh.

If the crook wants to get in, the crook will get in. If you have a sliding glass lock or an aluminum block, the crook will bust your window or door open which is a lot more expensive than a $15 clip.

By definition, junkies do not reason, so try to keep your expensive stuff out of sight. Or even inexpensive stuff, I once had to replace a driver's side window in my BMW 735 because some idiot wanted to steal my $50 beeper. That window would have made a nice dent in your $1000 deductible.

Bummer. Anger management: gooooosefraba...

I think the 10,000 volt gun is a very good idea. If you are so mad to kill him, you can atleast cripple him for life, with a couple of wires running inside which would activate with your alarm. after you get inside you could have a kill switch to make sure you dont fry ya ass.

I think I will get started on this. $1000 deductible is crap.

A $15 investment along with some skills. You can also do a $15 x 10 investment just for fun :D

we had a rash of car stereo thefts in our neiborhood quite a few years back. Upon replacing his stolen stereo my neigbor decided a to use some long installation screws and alternated double edged razor blades and nuts along the unsed section of thread.

One morning he came out to a rather large blood stain on the floor mat and a perfectly good stereo still in place.

The thefts stopped at that point.
