Sorry to hear - I think many of us can relate. If they want it, they'll take it. I USED to own a SWEET 1990 VW Jetta Wolfsburg GLi - fire red, Recaros, Alpine, BBS, low profile. z rated tires - all original equipment. Stoled 2 x from in front of my HOUSE in a good nieghborhood - then picked at almost everywhere I went. I had to leave it at my mechanics for more than month to repair it correctly. He too was paranoid - used to put it UP on a lift and locked in his garage overnight so noone would fawk around with it. Finally caught the dude when I installed LoJack - worked. Fancy stereos are nice but be prepared to lose them - and suffer the damage - just the way it is.

One morning he came out to a rather large blood stain on the floor mat and a perfectly good stereo still in place.
The thefts stopped at that point.

I love this, must replicate.

Not sure if this is true, but I think its messed up if it is. But the thief could sue you if they got hurt on the razor idea while trying to break into your car?

What are the odds of that? Lowlife, jonesin for a fix, walks into his lawyers office with an ouch on his finger and says" I wanna sue that SOB whose stereo I was jacking" I have no doubt that there's a schwack of lawyers who would take the case pro bono, though.

Its a funny system. In a lot of states you could hide in the Cruiser and shoot his ass when he breaks in but you'd be liable if you set a booby trap such as the brilliant razor blade trick.

I'd take my chances.

when you get a new stereo, fab up a grenade behind the dash. thet way when they try to pull the dash apart, youll find more than a couple of drops of blood.im sure the 80 will survive. p.s. sorry about the damage

it looks like you will only have to replace the one trim panel that you remove to do the CDL mod or to install the stereo. If that is the only damaged panel it should be easy to get a new one but may be spendy. Did they damage any other plastic peices, any other damage we can not see easily in the pics?
Hope your truck gets fixed soon.
