and beware the 78 FJ40 after market rear tail light fixtures as well. not compatible with oem lenses until you re-position the blinds and the bulbs are so under wattage that your turn signals won't create enough voltage drop for the blinkers to work.:flush:

Almost done with the restoration Danny

1.36 primary, 1.71 secondary.

Front turn signals are mounted again... I cut a 1/8" mounting plate, for each, and cut a 1/16" "key", to lock the mounting plates and pedestals together. I slathered them with PC7 and let them cure for a couple of days, then sanded and painted them and screwed them back together.

I have new lights coming, but these seem really sturdy, so I'll run them 'till they fall off or I get the initiative to mount the new OEM lights.

@65swb45

Carb arrived while Chester and I were hiking today, Mark.

I haven't opened it yet and won't be able to install it for a couple of weeks... We're leaving on a Tundra-Casita (trailer) trip.

I'll install it when we get back... And will report my observations afterwards.

Thanks!!

We had a great camping trip, with Dianna last week - here's a few pics

Chester and I are going back next week... we'll take my inflatable pontoon, my waders and fly fishing gear and Chester will get his first float and some swimming.

My boat only has room for one 80+ lb passenger... I had planned this trip for Gunner... he loved fishing with me... but, Chester will too!!

Mark: the vacuum manifold thang, at the top of the rectangle, in this pic, is what I referred to in my voicemail... I don't know what it's called... but, I'll call you tomorrow morning... or, you can call me... I'll be gone after noon.

Edit: sorry, this pic wasn't on my phone

Yeah, that's a delete on a desmog.

Installed my newly rebuilt ( Mark @65swb45) Aisin Carb and moved my other Aisin carb to "backup"... Here's my "new" carb... Can't see a lot, but it's right purty.

Mark did a great job and quick turn around too!!

44 is so powerful now that I can barely hold her at the gate!!

Seriously, she has much more get up and go than before!!

While I had her on the table, I also swapped in new spark plugs and adjusted the valves... Oh... And changed the oil.

This is the first time I've been physically able to adjust the valves, since the first few months that I had her... My new back is perfect!!

This is great news. But, just be careful with that "new" back. It is soooo easy to over do things when you feel good, and that is when additional damage can happen. This is what I find myself doing, and have to periodically remind myself about. Carefully pushing yourself to the limit is how you can get back/increase your abilities. Lots of exercise is real good for you, but drastically over doing what you know you should do can also be detrimental. I know that what you just went through is real fresh in your mind, and that you are/will be careful. But, because of what I went through I just have to add this caution.

Thanks Don!

Yeah, I've been sore every since I bent over the engine, to adjust the valves.

Since I'm 5'6", I can barely reach the rockers, from the floor... had to stand on a stool and lean further.

I had planned to have the valve adjusted, but decided to give it a shot.

Now, I'm concerned that, because my back was spasming, I may have rushed the 2nd half... so, I'm planning to take it and have it done again, next week.

The soreness is all muscular... nothing like the back pain we know so well.

But, I won't do it again.

Thanks for your worries, Don!

Bet 44 is purring like a kitten now!!!!

Yeah but I think these things were built for 5'6" drivers.

Yeah but when some guys get done lifting their trucks, even I need a stepstool. And I'm 6'3.
