I don't know what it is but everytime I see those dog booties I smile... :)

Ask @65swb45 what 44 smells like after I take those boots off!!

Chester tore the hell out of this set today... But we have others.

FRITOS!!!!
Yep!!

Feet smell so delicious, you just want to eat them up!!

Are you still rebuilding carb's, Mark?

I have a spare Aug, '78 carb and a Hygrade kit... But, no finger dexterity remaining, for tiny parts...

Say you're interested and I'll give you a call this week.

Hey Danny, is that same canyon we hiked? It looks very familiar. Looks like you might have paced yourself and gone further up canyon than we made it together.

Yes I am still rebuilding carbs. Just finished up a pair of 1962 SD40 blue window carbs I posted a pic on Friday. Just finishing up a steering box today and have a 1972 carb on deck.

Also been very busy with the hands on demolition and renovation of the new offices for the shop. I need to post up pics in the fire thread. I've been at the home improvement store when they open every day for a week. I feel absolutely blessed to wake up each day after a solid 6-7 hours of sleep and pain free.:)

No, it's opposite, where we hiked... you and I were in the Sheep Range below and too the left of 11 (about where Mormon Well Road makes the first turn to the right)on this map and Chester and I were in the range below where the road makes the first bend to the left (left of Morman Well Road)... I believe the ridge we were hiking is part of the Las Vegas Range, but this map isn't to scale.

Good to hear you are sleeping well and with little pain. Remaining active produces many positive benefits.

I'm surprised I'm not sore today... Tomorrow could be a different story...

I'll give you a call in a day or two and we can work out the carb specifics.

Mark:

This is a better look at where Chester and I hiked yesterday - it's my tracks, from my SPOT... SPOT lost satellite signal at several points inside very deep and narrow canyons... This hike encompassed 3.8 miles (absent the return to 44)... but took 6.5 hours. I'll never go blindly down a drainage again... at least, not through stone tubes... too difficult to get back up... especially when I needed to lift Chester (84 lbs) over my head, to help him up vertical climbs.

But, when we started down the first few tubes, the canyon wasn't nearly as unforgiving... I allowed myself to be sucked in, by making a couple of assumptions... I thought I knew where we would come out... I was wrong... and the #18 track point is roughly where we encountered the insurmountable drop that necessitated us climbing back up a ways, to get out of the canyon and over a summit, to the slide we used to escape.

You and I hiked on the opposite side of Mormon Well Road, and about 4 miles on up the road.

Mark,

I took a nap and never heard from Scott.

I'll ship the carb and kit early next week and will let you know when it goes out.

Let me know how/when I pay for this.

Thanks!

Yup. The plan was to call IF he could do it. He was a passenger/ helper on this trip, and was in Henderson when I got ahold of him. His friend, the driver, wanted to hit the road out of town as soon as they got done loading the truck.

Its all good.

Yep. That's what I said, "he could be clear across town" and he was.

No prob... I planned to ship it anyway.

Carb went out Fed-Ex this morning, Mark.

Danny,

I apologize for bringing up down feelings, but I just caught up on your posts and I am sorry to hear about Gunner. I enjoy reading about your adventures. . . in fact I quite envy you with the time you are able to spend with man's best friend and machine. As one that deals with furry members of the family on a regular basis I get to meet and interact with all types of dog owners. . . I honestly say I wish more of them could be like you in the way you care for and interact with your four legged friends. There is never an easy answer to know when the time comes to make one of life's most difficult decisions (it was for me anyway), but I think you did just right. Gunner had some good times and his suffering was kept to a minimum. . . it would not have been long before the bad days started to outnumber the good.
Again, I am sorry to be so late to send my condolences. I am sure you know that Gunner is still with you and I am sure there will be moments when you will catch him out of the corner of your eye in your future adventures.

Dave

I told my hiking friends the whole story last week. I think that sharing these stories is an essential part of being human.

I also told them I will never look at an Orange Dreamsicle the same.

Thanks Dave!!

My dogs are my life.. Dianna feels the same.

Our younger daughter, in Austin, TX, just asked if we want a Golden Retriever puppy in several months. She has a friend with an upcoming litter and only has 5 people on the list. Without asking me, Dianna had her get us in the list, after confirming we can back out anytime.

Neither of us are ready for another puppy right now... And Chester is really a great companion... I want to enjoy him, alone, for a while.

He almost caught a big jackrabbit the other day... I'm not sure if the rabbit was gaming him or simply misjudged... but it would have been fun to see Chester's reaction if that 'roo had turned on him!!

We, including Chester, miss Gunner every day and will for quite a while... I also see him, as you said, quite often... But, I spent a lot of time, by myself, with Gunner... And am doing the same, with Chester now.

Thank you for your kind words!!

Thanks for sharing, Mark... Gunner always loved celebrity!!

Orange Dreamsicles have a special place in our lives... As do Fritos!!

Dianna has scheduled a repeal and replace, for the tile in our house... So, Chester and I are running away for a few days... Not sure yet, but we'll either leave in the morning or Wed morning...

I may have to buy a bag of Fritos on the way out of town!!
