Today, I chased my tail...

I recently wired a 7-pin plug on the back of 44, for my hitch carrier. It worked fine for two trips. I wired it as a 7-pin to make it easy to 'share' it between vehicles, with the need for an adapter.

Now, it's objecting to me plugging in the hitch carrier, by popping 15amp tail light fuses. 44 tail lights are fine until I plug in the 7-pin plug, then 44 has no tail lights... Not critical, since I can't see to drive at night. But, someone else may want to take her out at night.

The PO towed 44 behind an enormous Class A RV, the wiring they did, at the rear of 44, has a total of 6 diodes and several hundred feet of black electrical tape, but this current problem is mine...

I suspect my hitch carrier ground wire, connected to a wire to 44's frame, is picking up current from somewhere... Possibly freom the rats nest with all the diodes. So, I guess I'll splice it into 44's Wb ground wire and see if that resolves my short.

At least my brake lights and turn signals work on 44 and the hitch carrier.

Can someone explain how I can determine whether my frame rail (where my ground wire is picking up a ground) is actually energized?

If anyone is looking for storage options...

44's jump seats reside on a shelf in the garage. I have plywood straddling the space between the fenders.

Yesterday, Dianna came home from CostCo (on the North side of Vegas, off 215) with three .50 cal ammo cans... Each can held a .30 cal ammo can inside. She said, "can you use these? If not I can take them back". They were $19.99 for each pair (.50 and .30 cal)... good price for two cans, with no shipping... if they are available in your area...

All six of these cans are an exact fit under the plywood and the three large cans (.50) fill the space I have left at the back doors of 44... this pic shows two .50's and one .30 ("electric") - the stenciling was extra...

I don't have a pic, but one .30 fits perfectly between my driver's seat and the door.

The frame really doesn't get energized , it's caused by a light losing ground or shorting into the base or by being installed to jump the contacts .
I'd ditch the individual diodes , there are better and simpler ways to do it with a self-powered converter . I used that on mine and installed a 7/4 pin plug head behind the driver's bumperette .

I love my Trasheroo... I carry firewood on the way out and trash in the way back in.

But, I've always hated the blank, black look... Especially since it started fading.

So I decided to glue on some patches that are associated with my Air Force career.... Major Air Commands (most no longer active), couple of locations (one long gone and the other seems to be in the process of being reactivated), etc.

Nice idea! I've also got some AFCC patches, and probably an old AFCS one somewhere.

1. my wife found some fabric glue years ago that work perfect for patches and what not. It was called "OK to wash it". No stiches and is permanent.

I tried several. Including one used for scout patches... None stayed put. The hot glue gun was the easiest and it worked.

I assumed it was the 'finish' on the fabric... But, it could be I simply wasn't ept...

Well all... I wasn't gonna post this, but I think my head may explode...

10 years ago yesterday (12/18/2005), I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer... I underwent a prostatectomy, e.g. my prostate was removed, via DaVinci Robotic Laproscopic Surgery, on March 22, 2006.

I saw my urologist yesterday (12/18/2015) and was told that, since my PSA has been nil for 10 years, post surgery, and all other tests (bone scan, etc.) show no sign of cancer, I am cured!! Prostate Cancer no longer has any chance of shortening my life expectancy!!

This not technically technical, but there it is!!

Interesting info Danny! My Dad had prostate cancer, and the normal surgery. I don't know the details about how everything went afterwards, but it seemed to be OK. A few years later he was diagnosed with cancer in his upper right arm. Six weeks from the time of the official diagnosis of cancer we lost him. The second round of cancer had spread throughout his body before he even knew he had cancer. I've always wondered if the prostate cancer was somehow connected to the cancer that finally took him.

So, your news is very good news to me.

Don: if you have had PCa (prostate cancer) and cancer appears elsewhere later, it could easily be the same PCa cells, metastized to the new area. A lab could tell. Sorry for your loss. BTW Are you aware that your odds of getting PCa are higher if your father or brother had it? Be sure you have regular PSA tests.
