Did anyone notice any vibration above 75mph? I don't know if it's just the tires getting broken in or the balancing job. Thoughts? I was thinking about giving them a week or two more and see if they smooth out.
I have latitude tour hp and I have some vibration above 75 on interstate sometimes. I'm wanting at when these wear out but don't know what I want. Big fan of cooper tires on my wife's van, but not sure on their at's......any suggestions beside bfg....looking for quiet at with good Treadwear and cost effective if possible.
I have 285/75/16 Duratracs. Had BFG's on my Tacoma, and those were really nice, even on the freeway. The duratracs have a little more road humming noise on freeway. I would have gotten the KO2's but I got a sweet deal on five duratracs (one new, four with 75%), couldn't pass it up. Here's mine without lift.

Cooper AT3's are a very nice tire for the money if you want a smooth ride and acceptable occasional offroad performance. I have had very good luck with several sets of BFG AT's lasting 60,000 miles or more, but I do run them down pretty far.
I have KO2's in 275/70/18 and I had vibration above 75 for maybe ten miles the first time I drove at that speed. After that the tires smoothed out and haven't had any issues since. I hope yours eventually do as well.
I just got some ko2s right before hih. I have a terrible vibration starting at around 60mph and gets really bad as speed increases to 80. I'm about to try to get them balanced a third time. I just took off a worn set of trail grapplers and they were loud but at least they were smooth. I have another set of the ko2s on the old fj40 and they have been smooth and great. Hoping I can get the vibration gone!

The guys at ACC told me they never balance BFGs (their preferred brand) before 500 miles. Then, they have them balanced if needed. I mentioned this to the guy at Discount Tire (where I get all my tires) and he said "That works very well - effectively a road force balance." If they're not balancing out by now, I'd have them swapped under warranty.
I have run only bfg ko's now since 2002 and usually get about 40k out of them. My current set however has a slight steering wheel bounce over 70mph. The original ltx tires were smooth as glass. @crimsonaudio how do you like the ride with 865 springs? I have been considering them with stock shocks. Primarily my rig is a highway driver right now. (Some nasty highways here) Slee bumpers and sliders I presume?

They were a slightly stiffer than OEM with the stock bumper but with the addition of the Slee rear bumper they ride very nicely, though I had to add 1" coil spacers in the rear as the rear bumper is so heavy. Slee up front as well and those are OPOR sliders - still running OEM shocks all around (new). Rides great on or off road.

That's interesting, So can it be beneficial to just request they mount a new set and then return to have them balanced "officially" after said 500 miles?
Does road force help? I ask as I'm picking up a set of real clean factory rims today and am soon to head to SAMS or DT and get some 285 KO2s...
When you buy tires from DT (or AT out West) you're buying lifetime balance & rotation as a part of the install price. I recently did what Manhattan speaks of- just mount and drive for 500-1000 miles, then return for balance( and rotate.)
With no weight added to my new K02s were great up to 60-65mph. Then from 65-80 there was a slight off balance shake. Drove it about 600 miles and went back to DT and had them balanced (no hassles) now perfect at hwy speeds.

DT just mounted and balanced a set of Falken AT3/Ws (purchased via DT Direct EBay) for me which includes their lifetime balancing etc. When asked about the initial balancing of heavish 275/70 E rated, road force, waiting 500 miles etc the manager said he'd balance them on install and if things changed or they needed rebalancing after a few weeks/months then just bring it back in at no charge. Hard to beat that service, and their prices.
