Purpose and overview, to keep a log of my journey with this new to me 2011 Lexus LX570.

I picked it up from Facebook marketplace in Marlboro NJ with about 130k miles on the clock. It spent the first 40-50k miles of its life in California. The next 40 were in MA, and then the last 50 were in Marlboro. It was a Sunday driver. Not a primarily vehicle.

For me, I’ll wool wax it annually and drive it every day.

I got a full PPI on it. It has a torn bushing on the pass side lower control arm. The power steering fluid is a little low but acceptable. The brake peddle is squishy. Overall very good condition.

Initial impressions: Bougie! What a difference from the 100 series ! This thing is a drivable couch. The sound system is beautiful. Seats and power everything. It’s all functional and luxurious. This feels like a “lexus”

First order of business is to register it, change the oil, install one of those Linux CarPlay things, look into tinting the windows, and figuring out how to best store my work equipment. My Ironman dual drawers may work but I would prefer to keep at least one third row seat usable on the fly. I’ve got a house of 5.

Re storage. I may sell the Ironmans and get a single ARB drawer.

Thanks for reading. I’m sure I’ll be chiming in now and then with tinkerings and minor issues.

Happy to hear anyone’s thoughts or tips. And definitely happy to be on team 200.

Photos attached for your pleasure.

It’s a beast! I have a 2011 as well. Make sure you check the top of the radiator for leaks as they are known to fail at this mileage. Also check for cam seal leaks which can be spotted through the fender wells in front. I’m looking to start adding to mine now but also keeping it as my work vehicle. It’s has over 200K on it now.

It definitely is a beast. Makes the 470 feel extremely sluggish.

The rad has been replaced already with OEM. I’ll look into the cam seal leak. Any threads with photos you can point me to?

I’m sure there are some threads in the search. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when as they will leak. Pretty extensive job to fix. I did my radiator, hoses belt water pump etc when mine had to be done. Figured if all that stuff had to come off then might as well replace it all at that point. Here is pictures of what had to come off to repair them. Internals on mine looked super clean at 130K miles when this was done.

Car has a bit of a smell. PO was an air freshener hoarder. Scheduled a detailing for Wednesday.

Got a quote on tinting the front windows, may work on that over the week.

The stock roof rack holds my surfboard decently enough. Can't open the trunk fully with it up there. May look into something a little taller / more forward.

Thinking of splitting my IRONMAN 4x4 dual drawer in half, but too chicken to start cutting.

Loaded The Endless Summer into the DVD player to my children's delight. No we don't have "storybots" on DVD.

Enjoying the stock ride. I drive a lot.

My family of 5 used the jumpseat 1 time. Even when they grew up and are adult size they prefer to sit three across. Youngest was six when we got the lx.
I did put in a single drawer and keep the possibility, but they just all preferred the middle seat. Mostly so they can talk to each other easier.
Makes the fridge easier to use with it lower.

We're 5 now, and all two times we went out as a family the kids fought over who gets the back seat.

Not to mention a bun may or may not be in the oven

I have a lot of equipment. The dual drawers were totally occupied, but I can condense into one if I have to.
